Testing if you need a new tank is simple. Remove the tank from under your sink (or wherever you keep yours). Take it to the bathtub or backyard and open the valve to empty out all the water. Then use a low pressure gauge to test the air pressure when empty. If during this process any air comes out of the water valve or water comes out of the air valve, you need a new tank. If you don't have any leaks, then just adjust the pressure to be 5-7psi when empty and put back under the sink. You don't need a new tank.
In my case I was leaking water out the air valve so I decided to go with a different brand than my previous tank. This one is a little bit wider and shorter than the previous tank I had. The included black plastic stand was terrible. I couldn't even get it to sit flat on it's own. I just used my old stand. I was really pleased that I didn't have to do any adjustments for it to work. The air pressure was perfect to get full use of the tank. I easily get more than three gallons out at a time. I'm at about 2000 ft above sea level. I just screwed it in and it worked perfectly from day one. I've had it a couple of months and have not had any issues. I will update if it gives me any trouble.
Hooking it up was simply, attach the valve, inserted the tube, and turned on the water.
I gave it 3 stars because it came without any documentation.
There is no certificate if it has been tested for pressure, or clean enough inside for drinking water. The pressure valve, covered with a cap, says that only professionals should touch it.
I am not a tank professional but would like to know what the set pressure is, just in case...
I had a great buying experience through Amazon and will recommend that my friends utilize this service as well. The shipping turnaround was quick. I like not having to go out and shop for products.
Hooking up the tank was as easy as unscrewing the old filter and screwing the filtered water line into the new tank. I did need to use Teflon tape since my first attempt has a slight water leak. I wish I would have purchased this years ago!

The tank came within a few days and is as expected, fine and functional. It did have a small dent but nothing that impacts its function.Published on August 14, 2012 by Darryl
