I highly recommend you NOT buy this product from Amazon. My cat loved the Fortiflora that I purchased from the vet. Then I bought it from Amazon and added it to the food. At first I thought it was just my finicky cat. She would not eat anywhere near her normal amount that she had eaten with gusto with the Fortiflora from the vet. After several days she just would not eat food period. I started to tie it together. When I called my vet they said they had another client in just this week of April 9th 2018 who had purchased Fortiflora from Amazon and the cat would not eat its food. They compared the two Fortiflora packet contents and the texture and color were clearly different. Amazon is probably storing the "live" probiotic poorly. This is incompetent. Those of you that have cats and dogs on this product would know how frustrating and disturbing it is when your animal won't eat especially if they need to gain weight.
The most concerning ingredient in this product was that the main ingredient is “Animal digest”. Google what that is. Basically, it’s parts of dead animals. These can be euthanized pets or other animals with little regulation on how/where they are obtained from. Purina does address that this is “safe”, but seriously, why would you want to feed your pet bits of euthanized animals? We discussed with out vet, who theorized Purina puts in one bacteria to count as a “probiotic”, but really this product is a way for them to profit off of waste products from their pet food. Save your money, go to a vet, and get a cheaper and better product.
I had a very sick Persian Calico kitty named, Haylee, that I purchased the Fortiflora for out of sheer desperation along with some other supplements. She passed away this past winter at 12-years-old. This was after 18 months of constant emergency vet trips, regular vets, thousands of dollars spent on tests and second opinions. We heard she had everything from Kitty IBS, food allergies, pancreatitis, stomatitis, gastroenteritis from new kitty food, etc. Turns out, the final thing we heard was cancer. She hadn’t eaten in her own for over three months. I was blending her food to then syringe feed her, but nothing was working. She was just getting too sick.
I’m getting off course here. The vets had prescribed a prescription probiotic for her at one point about three months prior to her death. She had been vomiting and getting diarrhea really bad. It seemed to help, but the prescription was short lived. I researched online. In both the IBS and Pancreatitis blogs (if your cat is sick, pet parents are an awesome resource... check out their blogs) FortiFlora kept coming up. In fact, my vetinarian even sold it in their RX Online Store. It was supposed to be safe. Haylee, my sick cat’s stools, were either very loose or the opposite: constipated. No in between. I gave this a try. We didn’t make it through the full month before she died. But, it did seem to bring her a little relief. The big benefit was if you have a cat with no appetite, this stuff is like kitty crack. Mix this in some soft food, and it will be appealing again, at least for awhile. I believe I remember reading it was the Brewers Yeast they like. So, in short, I did not have a bad experience with FortiFlora. I am glad I tried it. I would have hated myself had I not tried everything possible that was safe. This fit the bill. I hope your pet gets some relief!

Purina Fortiflora is normally an excellent product, but beware of counterfeit versions being sold on Amazon. I've been buying this product online and from my vet for years. My cat has always loved it; he comes running whenever I open a packet. It seems to help the occasional digestive issue which may or not be caused by his outdoor bug and gecko hunting. The latest version I bought through Amazon was sold by "Tennilles Great Deal". The color was yellow (instead of the normal light brown color with white specks), and the smell was different. My cat had no interest in it. I called Purina to find out if they had changed the formula, and I was informed that I received a fraudulent product.
My 10-year old tortie has high blood pressure and CKD, had lost her appetite, and was losing weight despite trying every available canned food, raw diet, and even chicken breast. After several months she stopped taking the pill pockets, and I felt like I was torturing her to pill her twice daily. In desperation I tried this FortiFlora and it was a complete 180! She will eat anything I sprinkle this on! Pill pockets, canned food, dry, anything. Haven't tried a flip flop yet, but I bet she would. Placed one of her doctored pill pockets on the carpet and the two other cats came over half an hour later and licked the spot bare. Sprinkle just a small amount on the top of a serving and she starts eating and doesn't stop until the bowl is clean. This stuff is amaze balls!!! Since it is so expensive, and since I'm only doing this to stimulate her appetite and get her to take her meds, I only sprinkle a little bit, enough to do the job. One packet can last an entire week this way, which makes it more cost effective. As it was my last hope, this very literally saved her life.
5.0 out of 5 starsWatch for supplier location to avoid hefty customs fees

Great product, BUT first time and ordered it came from Canadian supplier, no problem... the second time I ordered, it came from a US supplier and I got stuck with a big customs fee. It was not clear to me that this was a US order as I thought I was replication the same order from before. Watch for the supplier location and be sure you don’t get dinged!!!
I use this product religiously for my cat Buddy who has kidney disease. He is doing great at this point, largely, in part to this probiotic (which my vet recommended). Got the product on time, early as a matter of fact. Healthy Pets highly rated, and have had no issues to date. I opened my current order, and the box was squished, but I thought nothing of it. Went to open it. The left side of the box looked as if someone stuck a thumb inside the box, as the small flap was bent in. The box was still sealed, so I opened it. The packets which normally (every time), are in the box facing side-to-side, were facing back to front. Like someone had stuck a thumb in and adjusted the packets somehow without breaking the seal. This made me a little apprehensive. But, we are going to use the product, because I only had 2 packets of my previous order, and cannot be without it for Buddy's health. I pray that there was no tampering with this item. I cannot get them from my vet....sadly she passed away tragically about 2 weeks ago. Yikes. Anyway, I wanted you to know about this 'questionable' appearance of the box of 30 (counted them) packets we received on Friday, August 3rd. Would like to continue ordering this product from you. Would appreciate a response if you have some knowledge as to why this box was handled in any way prior to shipping? Sincerely - Kim

We have 3 older cats and two of them love this stuff while the third is indifferent, Recommended by our vet and seems to help with overall health.
Mind which of the resellers you purchase this from as this last time around, althought the selling price was identical to my previous order, i didn't notice the seller was from California and i was hit with about $10 in customs handling fee.
3.0 out of 5 stars(Awesome product) But price too high and you have to pay the shipping if you want to return

- Beside the price and return shipping fee, this product is awesome for cats who need the special diet and refuse to eat. Keeping your cats hydrate is always a benefit for their long term health, our cats will drink all the water with this product.
***Downside***
- If you live in Great Vancouver area, there is a high chance your local vet will carry this product for same amount around $35 CAD ish - I believe the only way you can return this is to refuse this package when you pick up this parcel from Canada Post. If the post man managed to stick the parcel into your mail box (apartment) and you want to return this product then you will have to pay the return shipping fee.
Arrived at my door in less than 36 hours. Expiry date is March 2018. Great job!
I've been using this product for over 6 months under the advice of my vet. This is simply a cheaper source. This stuff is a medication, it's not meant to make your cats bowel movement smell less.
It does have specific uses. Here's my story: had one of my cats since he was about a month old from the humane Society. He had a massive worm infestation. He was successfully treated, but suffered intestional damage and growth was stunted. Due to this he's always suffered from hairballs but wasn't bad enough to treat continually.
Fast forward 7 years. His condition got worse. Standard hairball treatments were ineffective. He started losing his appetite and weight. This was getting very serious, he was vomiting at least once a day.
A smart vet prescribed fortiflora. Took about a month and a half, but it cured him. He's gained his weight back, eating well and has more energy. Vet suggested taking him off the stuff once he got the chance for his system to get working again, but that resulted in regression. Instead he gets half of the package per day (also vet instructions).
Couldn't be happier and neither could my furry friend!
