It appears PUROLATOR is phasing out the GOLD. I've been using Purolator GOLD for some time. However, I just recently received a different looking Purolator oil filter on July 2016, it's GLOSSY BLUE and NO TEXTURED GRIP!!! Same part number on box and oil filter PL10241. It's now called PUROLATOR ONE. On the Purolator Website, they show a Purolator (RED), Purolator ONE (BLUE), and Purolator BOSS (BLACK) oil Filters. No more GOLD. DARN!

I've been using Purolator PureONE oil filters on 4 and 6 cylinder cars with between 14k and 170k miles for the past 3 years. I perform oil changes between 7500 and 10k miles. The oil reports from Blackstone always come back with good scores. I have compared them against WIX and K&N filters and do not see an appreciable difference in the oil reports. This filter is the best value. It is also very easy to take off due to the coating.

An oil filter is an oil filter, but I think Purolator makes some of the best. This particular one I use on my Cub Cadet Garden tractor with a Kohler engine I think this is better than the Kohler brand filter.

Great Filter with Handy Grip to Hand Tighten

I really liked this filter and it was the first time I ever saw an oil filter with a rubber "grit"-type grip. I had to recently change our family's Town & Country's oil and was looking up any Purolator or Bosch filter (never Fram). This one came up and it had great reviews for a decent price so I pulled the trigger. It came in a simple cardstock package and even had instructions printed out on the filter for those who haven't ever changed their own oil before. The filter was still easy to grip and hand tightened even when I got a little oil on the outside of the filter. It's been 1000 miles and I haven't had any problems with the filter.

Watch those crazy videos on YouTube where they perform autopsies on all the oil filters. The count the pleats, and look at the anti-flowback valve to see if it is made of plastic or steel. Are the end caps plastic or steel?
Purolator has a long history for automotive fleet maintenance and truck fleet maintenance. Yep. They still use steel at Purolator. When was the last time someone counted your pleats? I'll leave it alone.

It's hard for a consumer to gauge the actual quality of an oil filter so I'll leave that to the experts that tear them apart and compare in tests. This filter seems to score well in lab tests and for the money here on Amazon I feel it's worth 5/5 stars. The rubber ring is solid and seems to be built better than any of the Fram filters. I use this filter along with Mobile 1 oil in a Toyota Tacoma (recently sold) 4runner and Land Cruiser for quite some time and haven't had any issues to date...knock on wood! :)

I usually use the PureONE filters on my cars and the engines are still spotless at 250K and 200K miles respectively. Note they changed the color, they're not the sandy mustard finish, they're now a metallic blue in a hexagonal box. They still seem to be the same good product.
