Been waiting for this for quite a while. To me the original soundtrack of course is 5 stars. The 4 stars is for the expanded version. I feel like many others here that the radio edits for the singles are unnecessary. I think this should have included all the songs from the movies including the Time and Apollonia 6. That’s one flaw. Erotic City the long version does have some sort of weird distorted sound at the beginning of the song but still doesn’t sound bad, it’s like 1 second or so for that. The bonus stuff while most of it is good some doesn’t really fit here I think. The best ones are Dance Electric, Electric Intercourse, We Can F*** and the amazing extended version of Computer Blue. I never even cared much for Computer Blue all these years. Here in its full version its very good and I can appreciate the song much better. The rest of the bonus stuff feels like it should be on some other compilation or feels maybe unfinished. Possessed isn’t bad but its rather long. I think also the Beautiful Ones extended version should have been included here. But all in and all I don’t think anyone will be super happy about this or what they should have done I suppose.

as a lifelong Prince fan, my review might be a little biased, but truly, this is a must-have for anyone who loves Prince. It's a well put together package of old & new Prince material w/ a DVD of times gone by (it made me a little emotional...). if all you know of Prince is Purple Rain, you should probably go w/ the remastered package...the Deluxe goes a little further. either way, you can't go wrong w/ one of

If there was a 6th star exemption, then I would give this 6 stars !!! I immediately popped in Disc #2 for the unreleased vault material. Blew me away !!! As many others have said, the 12 minute version of Computer Blue (Hallway version) is worth every cent I paid for this... Will listen to the remastered Purple Rain CD next, then the edits and B-sides CD... Tonight, the Syracuse concert...

Life is great.... Thank you Prince. Gone too soon... : (

Great collection of new music and newly mastered songs from the movie. The DVD concert quality was fair, but considering it was filmed in 1985, I wasn't expecting Blueray quality. It was still incredible to watch and loved every minute. The inside packaging is fun too. All of it is particularly great since Prince put it all together before he died.

When my copy of the Deluxe edition of Purple Rain arrived, I eagerly listened to all the tracks. The newly-released songs are more finished and even better than I expected. I especially like the 14-minute version of Computer Blue, which really showcases the musical prowess of every member of the Revolution. I had heard the band in concert this spring, and Computer Blue was their opening number and one of their strongest performances. The simple piano performance of Father's Song, the melody which appears also in Computer Blue, was so melancholy and lovely it moved me to tears. Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden is another standout track.

I am really loving this Purple Rain Remastered. I also have all of Prince music and play them like they were new. This does sound different then the original Purple Rain CD. But I have read some people talk about it wasn't remastered. I really don't care about all of that. I just want enjoy his music and the stuff we haven't heard yet. Let us celebrate him and not all the technical stuff. I also have the concert on VHS, bought it back in the 80's and so glad its now on DVD. For the price of all this music and a DVD what's there to complain about

Purple Rain is a classic album to start with. Add to that a bonus disc of unreleased material, a bonus disc of b-sides and extended mixes and musically it is brilliant. Finally a DVD release of the incredible and amazing concert from the Purple Rain tour. I've been waiting for that concert on DVD for years. It has been taken from the home video release and so it may not have the greatest picture quality, but the performances are singular.

Fabulous! The original soundtrack sounds much better. The vault material is awesome (the Hallway Speech version of Computer blue alone made this worthwhile!). I haven't listened much yet to the 3rd CD with extended versions. The other gem is the concert DVD. The DVD is not great quality, but far better than my old VHS copy. Purple Rain was never my favorite Prince era, but I'm really glad I got this package.

Great re-release...must have for any true Prince fan. The extended versions of these songs are phenomenal (Computer Blue). Would've liked to have the extended version of Darling Nikki on here but again, the album is great!!!

Nothing very much at all that is new and my ears cannot not perceive any difference in the remaster compsred to the CD yhat I have had for years. The price is not overly excessive so its probably a worthy purchase if you are a collector but I'm not sure the casual fan or current Purple Rain CD owner eill be too happy. That being said, the DVD is nice to have I guess but I don't imagine that I will ever watch it a second time.
