There's the ongoing plot of 'Who's after Anthony' in this one with Zeus pop ups. All this cloak and dagger stuff and who knows how long it'll continue.
I wondered how a small spread out and reclusive shifter group of Lynx can target an enemy. . . In days if not hours. They achieved what no one else could and their top seer Quain was clueless.
This is Peter's story. . . Yes he meets his mate but nothing is firm, not even the mating bite. And Peter had a rough life, his wolf should've gained strength, come back, with at least ONE shifted moment.
I was appalled at how a tortured, starved, unhealed Lynx shifter could exist wandering around, meets Peter, and they have this long meet and greet and I'm urging Peter to get him a bottle of water. Food. Be a typical wolf mate that provides and cares! Yet he gets neither for another hour or two.
And that bracelet. Let's get it off like. . . . NOW! But no. Let's have social hour without refreshments.
By the way, where did the bracelet go? Is it reusable?
A cliffhanger. Really? With everything else? One word for this story: Frustration. 2 stars. - Dan's Wife
Several days later there is a disturbance and heavy magic hit the house where Quain is being held captive. It breaks open Quain's cage and he is able to escape. He sees Peter and other members of the Moon Pack who invaded the house. A few days later Quain tracks down Peter and asks his help to remove the bracelet. Peter takes him to Anthony but seeing Anthony triggers a vision. Zeus wants Quain to be Anthony's adviser and seer.
Peter used to be a mutant wolf and still feels horrible about the loss of this pack and family to the scientist who tried to make them mutants. He also regrets the things he did as a mutant. His wolf is broken and cautious. Peter never dreamed that there would ever be a true mate for him. When he discovers Quain, he is happy to have a mate even if his mate has a unique set of problems. Will he be able to keep Quain safe from the wizards hunting him?
I thought this to be a very good addition to the Moon Pack story. Loved Peter. I was glad he was able to find his mate and be happy after all the trauma of being a mutant. Quain is new to the story and I really loved his character. I thought the two were good together.
My main gripes are with the story itself. We are told pieces of some of Quain's visions. I would rather we had been able to witness them as they were happening. Also, this story ends in a cliffhanger. I'm just hoping that the author is a bit quicker getting out the next installment. I'm wondering if it will be Quain's Quandary or something like that. Overall, I enjoyed this story. I think if you are fan of this story you won't be disappointed.
