About the Author
Orison Swett Marden (1850-1924) is the founder of Success Magazine and is considered by many to be the founder of the modern success and positive thinking movement. He changed the old notions of success with the new more comprehensive ideas made popular by best-selling authors such as Napoleon Hill, Clement Stone, Dale Carnegie, Og Mandino, Earl Nightingale, Norman Vincent Peale, and many others. Some famous Quotes from Orison Swett Marden: A constant struggle, a ceaseless battle to bring success from inhospitable surroundings, is the price of all great achievements. A good system shortens the road to the goal. A strong, successful man is not the victim of his environment. He creates favorable conditions. His own inherent force and energy compel things to turn out as he desires. A will finds a way. Achievement is not always success, while reputed failure often is. It is honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under any and all circumstances. All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers. All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible. Analyzing what you haven't got as well as what you have is a necessary ingredient of a career. Be larger than your task.

I would recommend this book to high school seniors and up to anyone who is looking for inspiration and ways to work your way up the ladder in your life whether its a career ladder or some other ladder.
Good book... not a fast read. This book needs to be savored.
These lessons are all to easy for us to forget as life rolls on, and this book reminds us of how much we can actually achieve if we set our minds (and actions) towards it.
Where this book differs from so many (and some very good) recent personal development books is that it contains many real examples of real people. If you are a parent of a teen, a really good idea would be to make this a sort of fun family study course.
That would probably be an event that they will remember very fondly for the rest of their lives, and carry it on to their children as well.
This book is around 100 years old and is still around as well as revered, that alone should tell you a lot right there.
