About the author

Jan Yager is the author of 50+ award-winning books, with translations into 35 languages. Jan, the former J.L. (Janet Lee) Barkas, has a B.A. in Fine Arts from Hofstra University, an M.A. in Criminal Justice, from Goddard College Graduate Program, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from The City University of New York Graduate Center. She held a pre-doctoral fellowship in Medical Sociology from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Jan's master's thesis was on "Victims of Crime and Social Change." She went on to publish a book about crime victims, VICTIMS, to teach victimology and criminology courses, and to write the textbook, ESSENTIALS OF VICTIMOLOGY, published in 2022 by Aspen Publishing.
Always ahead of her time, Jan's book on vegetarianism, THE VEGETABLE PASSION: A HISTORY OF THE VEGETARIAN STATE OF MIND, her first, published by Scribner's when she was just 27, led to a publication day interview on the Today Show and aa cross-country tour, followed by an international tour of the UK when the British edition was published by Routledge.
Besides crime victims and vegetarianism, other topics this prolific author has explored over the years include how to find a romantic partner (125 WAYS TO MEET THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE); time management (WORK LESS, DO MORE; PUT MORE TIME ON YOUR SIDE; HOW TO FINISH EVERYTHING YOU START); friendship (WHEN FRIENDSHIP HURTS; FRIENDGEVITY; and FRIENDSHIFTS),; as well as writing and publishing (EFFECTIVE BUSINESS AND NONFICTION WRITING; FOREIGN RIGHTS AND WRONGS; HOW TO SELF-PUBLISH YOUR BOOK; and HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR BOOK)
Jan's fiction includes five novels-- several have been translated into other languages--ON THE RUN; JUST YOUR EVERYDAY PEOPLE and UNTIMELY DEATH (co-authored with husband Fred Yager and translated into Vietnamese).

I was losing my productivity, and reading PUT MORE TIME ON YOUR SIDE really snapped me back to reality. I found I was allowing other people as well as the Internet to distract me from the work and the personal relationships that really matter. This book helped me to identify those destructive relationships and habits, so that I have been able to break free from them.
I want to say a big thank you to Dr. Yager for providing me with another insightful book, which has helped me in innumerable ways. I highly recommend this book to anyone who finds themselves thinking, as I did, that 24 hours is just not enough time to get everything done. This book will help you realize that there are enough hours in the day; and you will find yourself enjoying a tremendous feeling of accomplishment as you complete all of the most important tasks on your endless to-do list.

There have been some very good books written on time management. However, Yager’s new book “Put More Time on Your Side” addresses our digital age which I think is much harder to manage despite the convenience.
Yager’s book will refresh your memory on the 7 basic principals of time management and the importance of goal setting. Also, her book has some great acronyms which I like to print and put on my mirror to memorize. Her daily time log in the back of the book is eye opening. I made a daily time log for my ideal day and another for my reality day. WOW what a difference! I am now working on one hour at a time to turn my reality in to an ideal day. With the help of Yager’s book, I know that I can turn my days in to a lifetime of accomplishments for my dream of success.
