Got this to replace a dedicated Sigma bike computer. Installation was a breeze and it connected to Strava and MapMyRide with no problems (iphone). I use MapMyRide because it can gives me the speed and cadence coming off of the device in real time (Strava only give you average GPS speed and average cadence).

(Also, a note to the poeple complaining about it not pairing with Android...this device is in broadcast only mode and isn't really meant to be paired. The apps should be able to find it automatically without pairing--confirmed with an old android phone. The iphone won't even give you the option to try to pair with it.)

I purchased this cycling speed and cadence sensor noting that others had struggled getting it to work on Android but I've seen similar reviews on other products which worked for me. Besides, the Amazon product description specifically stated this device works with MapmyFitness and it works on Android.... But I could not get it to work together after a lot of time spent trying. I am using a Verizon Galaxy S5 running stock Android 5.0 firmware. My experience was very similar to the review left by Sabra on 09July15. My phone could "see" the device and identify it as "Cycling Sensor V11". But MapmyFitness (I also tried MapmyRide) would not allow me to connect to the device. When I selected "Bike Speed", "Bike Cadence" or "Bike speed & cadence" within the app and then tried to connect (big orange connect button) I would get a popup with the words "Scanning for Devices..." at the top and "Turn on Bluetooth" at the bottom. However, Bluetooth was already on.... I turned off my phone. I turned Bluetooth on and off. I spent an hour trying all sorts of combinations and nothing I did would get MapmyFitness (or ride) to connect to this device.

I eventually installed an app called "Ala Coach" and that app immediately recognized this sensor and functioned reading speed and cadence. I tried that a few times turning my phone on and off and every time it worked immediately (proving my Bluetooth was on). I tried running this new app and MapmyFitness at the same time and MapmyFitness would not find the sensor or read the data.

So I'm giving the device 2 stars primarily because the title in Amazon is completely misleading.

Works with my iPhone 5, using the Trainer Road app. However, the sensors drop out (read zero) every 15-90 seconds for about 10 seconds at a time. I've replaced the battery twice, and it worked exactly the same way after the battery swaps. For the price, it's a fine unit; I just wish it worked better than it does.

Have paired it successfully to an iPhone 6. I misread the description and thought it worked with RunKeeper...well, it doesn't. With the app they suggest using, the data does seem to drop out a bit at time. Overall, works pretty well

Will not pair with Android unless you are using "Ala Coach"!! I cannot get this to work with Strava on an Android. If you are using an iPhone it works fine but I am giving this one star because the description is misleading.

Defective. Tried it with two batteries; didn't work. Would not connect at all to MapMyRide. Connected to Strava for 2 seconds and lost connection even though device and phone were on desk a few inches apart. Returned for refund.

Very nice and functional at this price! The suggested app works just fine, but I've switched to mapmyride for now. Speed and cadence data are faithfully transmitted, as far as I can tell! (I'm on IOS). Installation a breeze, very light and unobtrusive.
Probably buy a second one for our tandem...

This went to my brother in law since i for one hardly ever get on a bike - he on the other hand is a faithful rider - since he started his weight loss journey. this was the perfect thing to give to him to test and try out. So he put it to the test - and said he LOVES it - it was the prefect next step in his journey. He can now monitor and record his process - along with heart rate - and can see his progress and what he should be doing differently or doing more of. This is great for him. Worked perfect

Con - none
