Backup Camera That Fits Easily above Your License Plate
The Pyle PLCM10 is a backup camera featuring CMOS Sensor Technology and more. It mounts easily above your license plate so you can install it without any permanent vehicle modification. Thanks to using the latest in backup camera technology, it outputs crystal clear video over an RCA jack. Connect it to a monitor in your car, and you'll be able to see everything behind you on the screen!
Bicyclists, children, and pedestrians will have nothing to fear when you've installed this affordable, high-quality camera to your vehicle. It's also perfect for backing into tight spots or moving in reverse when visibility is limited – the camera acts like a third eye hovering just above your rear bumper. And that's not all – this model comes with night vision LEDS, which illuminate the area behind you at night.
This small and durable unit will keep you and your family safe and secure because you'll always know what's going on around you.
See Where You’re Going – Even in the Dark
The PLCM10 features night-vision LED lights, which light up the area around your camera, helping you see easier in the dark.
Weather Resistant Housing
Your camera is protected from the elements since it's built with weather protected housing. That way you can drive safely no matter the weather.
Mounts Easily on Your License Plate
The PLCM10 can be installed easily on your existing license plate mounting locations, and is suitable for both top as well as bottom mount on the license plate.
This camera also features RCA video output for connecting to other source inputs. Use your camera with a review mirror monitor, an existing in-dash TV, a DVR, or any other RCA-compatible video input.

This camera is good for the price. I installed it rather quickly in conjunction with my Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT. It added a Pyramid 10-amp noice filter ($3) as close to camera as possible to ensure it got clean power. It works fine. I can see anything behind me, day or night. Between the IR illuminators on the camera and your backup lights, anything close enough to be of concern at normal reversing speeds are illuminated.
After careful aiming, I know right where the "sweet spot" is for backing closse to other car's bumper and other obstacles behind me and still have a save 6-12" buffer. I now get in and out of tight spots with ease.
- Don't expect this to look like HDTV. It's a $30 CMOS camera.
- Use the $3 noise filter.
- Route your cables carefully. You should ground the negative lead as close to the camera aspossible and run the positive lead to your choice of power supply (the reverse lights, of you want the camera on only when you're backing, or an accessort power, if you wnat it on when the car's on - as in my case where my head unit has a "rear view" mode for viewing trailers and such while moving forward). If conecting to accessory power, you'll likely have to extend the cable to the front of the vehicle. Keep it a few inches from the from the video cable, and make sure both the video and power cable cross each other and other cables at 90-degrees, and avoid parralle runs. Also, be prepared to extend the video cable. I had to add a 6-foot extension to mine in order to get it to reach the head unit.Read more ›
Some points that others have made:
Low light ability: I found that all cameras have problems with low light. But this camera does what it needs to do. You can see the objects even though they are grainy. My video camera is grainy with low light.
Color: I've seen people gripe about the color, but the problem was that it was sunny. Even the best cameras will make everything look white in direct sunlight. Don't compare to professional videos. They usually film early in the morning. Direct sunlight is the worst for filming.
Quality of picture: This is a backup camera. It is not meant to be used as a video camera. The purpose of the camera is to see what is behind you.
First, the picture quality is just OK. It's not very clear even in bright light. Surprisingly the quality is about the same in the dark so the night vision works well, it's just not a high quality picture. More importantly, the angle is not nearly wide enough. I drove a rental Lincoln Navigator with a backup cam that I swear could see more than 180 degrees. It also was mounted high enough that coupled with the wide angle you could actually see the bumper in the bottom of the screen. With this camera (mine is mounted just above my bumper) I definitely can't see any part of the truck, and I can't see anything near either corner either. Only directly behind me, so using the side mirrors in conjunction is mandatory (not that you should only use the camera anyway but...).
The camera and its housing are slightly large. Yes it's intended to go on a license plate, although I feel this isn't terribly secure from thieves. But it's not inconspicuous at all. You see it from a mile away approaching the truck, so don't hope for a stealth install.
Last but not least, and this is mostly a mounting issue, but in the rain this thing is 100% worthless. I even mounted under a lip hoping it would stay a bit more dry but it didn't help. Anyway, when wet you can't see anything at all.
Not bad for just a basic cam, but don't expect much more.
