From the Manufacturer
The phonograph was invented in the 18th century by Thomas Edison, but has remained nearly the same for over a hundred years. Now you can retain the look of a classic phonograph but have the technology of the 21st century. This vintage, authentically wood-crafted turntable is equipped with an AM/FM radio, CD player, cassette deck, aux-in jack for your MP3 player, and even an iPod dock for a wealth of playback options. Use the included remote to control your device. The built-in speakers sound great, and you'll be enjoying the old classics and the new hits on this conversation piece in no time.
Do It All with a Single System
The Pyle PTCDS2UI is your single solution not just for vinyl, but for nearly any source of music you own. Choose between playing your vinyl records, playing CDs and cassettes from your collection, listening to your favorite AM/FM radio stations, playing your digital music collection through the USB port, or connect any other audio source that's compatible with a 3.5mm jack.
The 3-speed turntable is compatible with vinyl playing at 33-1/3, 45, and 78 RPM. It features a ceramic stereo cartridge with auto return for record playing convenience.
Single-Disc CD Player
The front-loading drawer-type CD player plays one disc at a time and is compatible with CD-Audio discs, CD-R and CD-RW discs, and discs with MP3s burned on them.
Built-In iPod Dock
Play music from your iPod or iPhone using the built-in dock. Use the included remote control to take charge of your Apple digital music library from across the room.
The PTCDS2UI features a USB encoder that can easily record old vinyl or other aux-in audio sources onto a flash drive through its USB socket in MP3 formats. You can also play your digital music files (MP3 and WMA) pre-stored on your USB drive or MP3 player through the USB port.
Top Customer Reviews
Also, the record feature does not give a good indication when the recording is actually starting. It took me numerous attempts to get a good recording that didn't cut off the first few seconds of the song.
Sound is pretty good though and recording directly to flash drive is a big help.
The instruction manual is about five pages long with no index. Very difficult to use.
I'll rate the unit later, but for now, would give it 5 Stars. I plugged my computer speakers into the unit and WOW! Sweet!
Update: Record player is solid, good arm action and does not skip. Still trying to locate a 78 rpm stylus. Radio is very good and brings in signals that I haven't received with other radios. Tape deck very solid as is the CD player.
Sound quality cannot keep up with my 250W BSR, BUT one should not expect that. Overall tone is very good. I did plug in some very nice computer speakers I have into the earphone plug and cranked this unit up. Very impressive and no distortion detected at the higher volumes.
I would recommend this unit to anyone. I studied a lot of these units, read all of the reviews, and selected this unit. The other unit I would have purchased if this one sold out was the Grace Digital Tunewriter IV. Both of these units appeared to be rated very high, not only on Amazon, but other sites as well.
UPDATE 07/06/12. Company sucks as to trying to figure out what 78 rpm stylus is needed. Its like talking to a brick wall. However, go to eBay and look for Needledaddy1 and he has the appropriate stylus. I cannot believe ANY company would advertise this unit as playing 78 rpm records and totally clueless as to what stylus is required. Mind boggling! Basically, you're looking for Leetac, Crosley Nostalgia 78 rpm, 793-S3. I purchased 2 from Needledaddy1 with free shipping. Because of this, I lowered my rating to a 4. Unit still has a great sound and performs well.
