I have bought Pyle products in the past that I have been very pleased with but this mic stand is a real substandard piece of.....well you know. The main problem is that the main swivel joint where the boom connects onto the upright stand is made out of some REALLY cheap plastic. This is the entire swivel joint and tube that the boom passes through. If you use this on a mic that weighs more than an ounce and try and tighten the boom extension screw or the swivel knob the plastic breaks and makes the entire stand useless. This happened the first time I used it... save your money and buy a better stand

Worst Stands EVER

Picked up 2 and right out of the box the one broke, the boom screw broke and would not hold tight. Amazon did a great job with the return but as soon as my new one came in one of the 3 arm stands at the bottom broke and leans sideways now. The other mic stand i got all the screws that hold the mic up, the soft piece for your thumb broke so now you have to have a screw driver. After all of those issues the mic can barley hold a shotgun condenser mic up due to the cheaply made locks for the boom. Spend the extra 5 dollars and get a "on Stage" stand!

This is a great mic stand and is exactly as billed but I have to point out a couple things so people know what they're getting. First, the clip won't hold some of the bigger mics and second, the floor space it takes up is pretty large. I tried to not push it down all the way but the legs need to be completely flat to the ground for the mic to be stable. So just be aware that it's not the best choice for a small space. That being said, it adjusts nicely in three ways; the reach of the top bar, the angle of the top bar, and the height of the bottom bar. It's also very sturdy once you have it set up.

Wretched: this broke my equipment.

Appallingly awful mic stand could not handle any weight whatsoever and collapsed, pulling my Shure SM-58 down with it (thank goodness, these little guys are indestructible), which then pulled my $150.00 MBOX onto the floor, wrecking its USB port. Lesson learned: don't buy a seventeen dollar piece of inadequate crap to hold up $250 bucks of sensitive equipment. Never again.

Here lately I have been impressed with pyle brand and quality of their equipment reasonable price and decent performance . It's not what the pros may use , but I have bought low end name brands and experienced poor quality to the point of disappointment in performance so there you go , this mic stand is well balanced sturdy and easy to use and folds well to be able to transport I don't expect to go pro but that's no reason I can't have affordable good quality equipment isome of us like to hang out and just have fun !!!

It's a good stand for the price, just keep the nuts tight or else things start to slowly slip out of position. The feet also don't always balance the weight correctly, be aware of this so it doesn't fall over while playing.

Do NOT buy this Pyle of Crap

You really do get what you pay for. I was simply buying an extra stand for my studio, so I went cheap instead of smart. If you are serious about your music- whether you are playing live, rehearsing or recording, do yourself a favor and spend $89 on the Tama Stage Master Series Boom Microphone Stand MS205. It will last you for many years, if not your entire musical career. I've had mine for a good long while.

My Pyle came with a mic clip already split in half and a missing boom tightening knob. Even after they replaced those (which took many weeks and emails back and forth- they even sent the wrong replacement knob) the thing just doesn't work reliably- the mic boom will inevitably droop. The whole construction feels (and is!) flimsy and cheap. When loosening and raising the main post vertically, the part you unscrew came up with the post. Same with the boom- the sheath cover comes out as you move the the boom horizontally. Both are supposed to stay put with the post sliding through it.

Avoid this product by asking yourself- Is saving $70 really worth the frustration and aggravation of trying to get this thing to work, every time, coupled with the lack of confidence that it will say put while you are recording or playing live? It's your call, it definitely should NOT be your primary mic stand!

if you have a recording set up with some good mic stands

These are not heavy duty mic stands to use all the time, but rather these are an economical solution for when you need a lot of mic stands that you will rarely use. In other words, if you have a recording set up with some good mic stands, but next weekend some choir people are coming over to sing on a track and suddenly you need five more mic stands that you will generally never really use except occasionally, then these are the exact mic stand for you. They are a bit flimsy and don't seem like they would stand up to repeated long term use, but they will do just fine for an occasional stop gap.
