First the good: The product overall isn’t bad and works just like a mixer would, the interface is easy to use and it is perfect for a small podcast or live-streaming. I bought this for my church’s livestream during the quarantine. But this segues into...
The bad: I originally purchased this because you can connect the mixer directly to your PC/Mac via USB and I loved that instead of having to use an interface BUT that isn’t really the case. I’m not sure if I got a faulty product or what, but the mixer, when connected via USB, cuts in and out so much and for long periods of time. I’ll be in the middle of a live stream and all of a sudden boom the sound cuts off.
My solution: Seeing as we are in a quarantine I really couldn’t do much so what I did to fix this was instead of using the USB interface I used the main out on the mixer (two 1/4 jacks for Left and Right) I plugged in two TRS cables and brought in to my audio interface (presonus audiobox 96).
It’s annoying because I wanted to do away with so many cables and wires and boxes and instead just use the mixer into the computer but that wasn’t the case.
SELLER IF YOU SEE THIS AND CAN REACH OUT WITH MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO MAKE THIS RIGHT I’D APPRECIATE IT!
Starting with one of the most ask for information about this and most of the Chinese mixers is the USB functionality.
1. THE USB SECTON. All the Chinese manufactured mixers that can record via USB to a USB thumb/flash drive/stick and thus can be connected to a computer and be recorded via software like Audacity ONLY RECORDS IN MONO. This mixer does this very well. Yes there is a Left and Right channel recorded but both are the same mono combined stereo signal. So playing back the recording both left and right signals are the same. This is ok if you are recording sermons and music you will be playing back monorally as we do from our stage since the wide seated audience has to here the full sound mix. A stereo interface or recorder like the Technical Pro UREC7 for about $60 or the Zoom H1n in the picture must be connected to the mixers stereo outputs to record in stereo. On this mixer this would be the Mains out L/R, the Control Out/ Headphones using TRS stereo plugs to the recorder. Read on about the stereo capabilities or not of this mixer.
2. Recording to an empty USB Flash Drive Does Not Work and the mixer does not see the drive for some reason. If you’ve read enough reviews on these Chinese made mixers, and I have read them all on amazon you read that an MP3 File, even if its empty must be on the Flash Drive and i found out this is true. I had my daughter put one of her MP3 format songs from her MAC on it and i erased the contents but left the file there. Boom it worked. I ordered 5 Sticks from Amazon, copied that file onto all of the 5 USB sticks and they record onto on both of my Pyle mixers. It is what is is, adapt.
3. You can record (in mono) to an SD card as I did by getting a USB to SD card reader I used UGREEN on Amazon. Recording on the SD Micro TF only worked if i used the larger adapter inserting it into the larger SD slot. Playback worked great to for those who want to play music. Here I just assume it can playback stereo music as the Bluetooth functionality is definitely stereo if you have stereo music on a USB drive or SD card.
4. There is a mode button on the USB player that gets you to the 3 functions, Bluetooth, USB playing if a Drive is in the slot, Record if there is a Drive in the slot. Recording starts then when you press the left most button as the instructions say with REC on the display and timer starts to count up the seconds/minutes of the recording which I have done for recordings over and hour. To stop press again. I have not been able to pause recording by pressing left button as manual says. It just stops recording.
5. Bluetooth works great and I got and open air distance of 80 feet to the stage and it worked great so the guy who said he picked up his phone and lost connection had other problems.
6. There is no separate volume for recording from the USB connection. The manual says that you can press two middle buttons marked - and + to lower and raise the USB volume but I found this is not for the recording function only when playing through USB. In that case the LED screen with indicate a change in volume, again as tested will not lower the recording volume to stop it from distortion. The feed for the recording comes off the main outputs after the main fader so if you run it to hot (to much gain, to loud) you will get distortion on the recording. This did not seem to be as bad on my Pyle 8 channel mixer but as others have said on Amazon and YouTube do trial and error since there is no way to listen in to the recording input/output separately. Ive just noticed with this mixer if your first green LED light is on that’s at -10DB its distorting. The output signal to main L/R is at a decent level here so that may be ok to feed your amplifier or powered speakers which should set near maximum gain if you need louder volume out of your speakers for live use. If you are just recording or practicing you will not have a problem with this. You can think about using the stereo Control Out to feed your main mix using the headphone volume to control it and the main mix fader for recording only. This is not a quiet board and puts out plenty of signal for use through a 100ft snake we use. I found it to be low noise also so good there. Each channel does have a red clip/overload led and it does not clip easily so you can run the input gain knob hot for maximum output if needed so that’s great news.
7. The USB section to playback either USB drives or Bluetooth needs stereo channels 3 and 4 to do so. A press of the ‘3/4 USB’ button in the USB section is required to select playback. If used you can’t also use the 3/4 1/4” channel inserts but can simultaneously use Channel 1 and 2 mic/line inputs to mix into the playing music on 3 and 4 with separate volumes and 3 band EQ for each. In this case you cant also record at the same time.
8. It is great to know however that if you are recording through the USB slot you do not have to press the button mentioned above down to the USB setting and eliminate the use of Channels 3 and 4. What I am saying is that your can record onto USB drive or computer Via double male USB cable (included) and also use channels 3 and 4 for inputs which is great news.
9. So functionality of the USB section on both of my Pyle mixers is similar but better on the 8 channel like having REPEAT for MP3 files and Direct Access to files on a USB stick finding them first by number then pressing in on the control knob for start when you want. On this 4 channel mixer you just press the forward backward buttons and it goes to that file within seconds but will not continue playing the original file until you decide which number to stop at so there is an interruption in the audio output until it starts the new file.
10. THE FX SECTION Here my 2 pile mixers are very different. For this 4 Channel mixer the 16 bit Analog effects give you a reverb/echo combination that are adjusted by the choice of one of 16 and then further changed with the repeat knob. The level knob is how much effect goes into the overall FS/SEND. Then any amount of this up to the setting of the level knob for each channel is set by that channels individual FX/SEND knob just above the channel volume (level) knob. There is slight variations in this section but it is sufficient to give some depth to live and recorded music and i use a slight bit on the singers. The first three or so are a reverb then a delay is added too. What is important to know is that there is a outboard send and return on this mixer for this effects bus, something most mixers this size don’t have. A better FX processor like a Behringer Virtiualizer can be added by sending to it then returning to the mixer via these jacks.
11. This FX bus can be used in many other ways also since it has a direct send (output). I use it for stage monitors where I am sending one special mix to several on stage self powered speakers as I mentioned earlier. You can adjust how much of each channel goes into the monitor mix using the FX knobs on each. This is a fantastic option on such a small mixer. What’s even more amazing is it allowed me to use some effects in the main mix at the same time that evidently did not show up in the stage monitor mix. This FX bus if you don’t have to run stage monitors can also be used to send a signal to an outboard recorder or near field monitors or audio to other speakers in other rooms etc. The Return does not have to be a return of the sent audio it can be used as a separate input perhaps form another mixer to the mains controlled by the RETURN volume knob.
12. THIS IS NOT A TRUE ALL STEREO MIXER. I got this mixer on a cyber Monday sale and it was already discounted as a used unit so yea I got it for just over $30 and that’s a STEAL. But even at its normal price for around $70 with USB playback and recording and Bluetooth and its other features it beats most other small mixers on features so I just LOVE it’s functionality and compactness. However it is only stereo using channels 3 and 4 which have left and right inserts. The USB/Bluetooth is also stereo input and so the output to the mains/ headphones/ Control Out are stereo signals.. Channel1 and 2 are mono Channels and cannot be panned to left or right but goes equally as a mono signal to the mix, there is not PAN knob on the unit on any channels even 3 or 4. This is not an issue for me since we use mono speakers but would if you wanted to record in stereo and pan the mikes off center for stereo separation. Many small mixers are like this some have PAN controls and there are Pyle models that do but may also delete some of the features this one has

It can also work in the future for different projects hooked up to that like a PA.
The one thing to note is that the BT, USB, and channels 3/4 are all shared. So if you're hooked up to a PC USB, you can't use BT or channels 3/4 at the same time.
Windows 10 detected the speaker immediately and it worked with zero driver issues.
UPDATE: Ended up returning this unit because it does not function well as an audio interface as the description would suggest. I was unable to get the mic input to work with Discord and the mixer caused the Windows volume indicator to stay on screen constantly until I cycled through the BT and PC inputs. The mixer also cannot have PC sound and input 3/4 running at the same time, which was a disappointment. On top of that, with no channel direct outs, you can't even use it with a separate interface for mixing in a DAW, you're stuck with whatever you get out of the mixer, so very little post production work could be done. I'd relegate this to only being used for small scale live performances. Even then, the lack of inputs makes that difficult as well.
One very nice feature of the mixer, though, is that phantom power can be turned on/off independently for each of the mic inputs, which is nice if you want to use both condenser and dynamic mics at the same time. With many other mixers, all of the inputs get phantom, or none of them do, and you do NOT want to give phantom power to a dynamic mic.
