While these bowls may not be your choice for a nice get together they work very well for lunch!
These are a little deeper and less round than the 'cinderella' bowls. A corelleware saucer fits over the top of them perfectly (I soak beans and nuts to make various vegan milks in fridge before cooking and processing). They don't stack nearly as well, they rather sit up a lot higher within each other so they do take more cupboard space to stack.
My box was 'formfitting' with packing cardboard between each one and some bubble wrap over the four. Each one had the little flyer/ID stuck to the inside bottom with 'sticky glue stuff' that rolls off with a fingertip. They are about the size of the old style Anchor Hocking 1054 lipless bowls except those stack better. The new Anchor Hocking are flatter and less curve, sharper angle at the bottom.
I am going to try to bake peasant bread in one of these as my legacy Cinderella bowl is about 50 years old and I don't trust it to not give it up with stress and shatter. Will update about that.
1 teaspoon oil (pre-heated 10-15 seconds)
Salt (mix well with oil before adding kernels
1.5 tablespoons of unpopped popcorn kernels
Using this recipe with coconut oil, and placing one of my Corelle saucers on top as a loosely fitting lid, I wind up with a 100-calorie bowl of perfectly popped, tasty popcorn that is just the right amount to satisfy. My only disappointment is that the bowl gets too hot to handle, even if grasped by the edges, so you can't just grab it as soon as it finishes popping. I may look for some kind of silicone handle/cradle thing that will fit these bowls, but for now I'm just dealing with hot bowls.
I have not tried this with two tablespoons of popcorn kernels, which is the usual serving size, but I think if you flip your saucer over so it's a dome it should work just fine. Of course, you can air-pop the popcorn, leave out the salt, add oil after the fact if that's what you like. But I like my kernels to come out already lightly oiled all over and salted, so the above approach worked out great for me.
Because there are two bowls in the set, I'm going to try to wean DP off of his unhealthy bags of microwave popcorn—which to me taste absolutely ghastly!—so he's only getting the benefits of the whole-grain popcorn fiber and a healthy oil. He likes to have his popcorn later in the evening than I do, but I'm going to have to experiment to see how two of these popped at the same time will do. (If you've done this, please leave a comment. One stacked on top of the other?)

We used to buy sets of three of these from the supermarket, but somehow or another the small bowls tend to vanish mysteriously while the larger bowls survive. Read morePublished 13 days ago by Kaleberg
