Your homemade pies have never looked better, thanks to this luscious Pyrex pie plate. This may just be one time your family and friends won't be overly disappointed when the last slice of pie is served right from the oven. That's because, once the Watercolor pie plate is empty, its gorgeous Blue swirled motif will be fully visible.

This was only the second time that I had used these pie plates and was initially very pleased with them after the first usage. The second time however, both pie plates had been in the oven for over 40 minutes when I heard a "pop". Much to my dismay, I found that the top pie pan had not just cracked or split but actually exploded inside the oven. My family has happily used Pyrex products for decades and I have never seen anything like this before. I have heard that a Pyrex container could "crack or split" if it was placed quickly from one extreme temperature to another, but this pie plate had been in the oven for over 40 minutes. Since the Pie Plate didn't just crack or split but actually exploded, I chose to throw the second one out as well since I did not want to risk a repeat of my Thanksgiving experience.
Top measured 11 inches edge to edge. Inside where pie dough about 9 1/2 tiny bit less. Deep is 1 1/2 inches. Just what I wanted. My old ones were hard to get in oven and out because they don't have the lip like these. Think I am going to really like these.
Update I know I am going to like them. 76 year old man here. Got to watch calories so I use a single crust and one can filling. About 1200 calories for a pie. Eat one 1/6 pie each day 200 calories. Any way these are great. The other 2 I had broke edge crust getting it out oven no matter what I did. Now not a problem. Will not use the straight sides anymore.
I have used them 4 times now. My other plain glass plates I had to use those silicone edge covers. Or the edge would burn. For some reason can't use them on these but they do not burn at all. That's a plus.
I like the depth, though, because it allows me to make pies with extra fruit. (So far, I've only used them for fruit pies and the occasional brownie.) The bottom crust also seems to crisp up well in them.
I haven't had any problems with the plates exploding. I usually bake them 30-60 minutes in a 350*F-375*F oven.

So, with great trepidation and lots of hope, I set out to bake a cherry pie in the one I had just purchased.
I was pleased - and proud - of the result. Apparently the others in my fellowship group felt the same. All they left were crumbs. The crusts were nicely tanned; not burned. The filling was thick but juicy.
These are exceptionally heavy and well-formed. I like the fluted edges. I don't see that I will ever need to add any more to my collection, but if I should happen to break one, I'll not hesitate to buy another set just like these.
I recommend them.
