Okay, this is the second QNAP I have purchased, and the main reason I have purchased this is because of the customer service.

My first QNAP is sitting underneath my desk, It's the TS-559 Pro (5-bay drive). Over the holidays one of my drives went bad. When I went to hot swap the drive, it turned out that a actually two drives were failing. I had this box for over 2 years, and drives do go bad.

I freaked out. I had everything sitting on my QNAP, all my photos and videos since perhaps 1999 were on that drive, and now I couldn't access them. I called customer support, and spoke to a great representative that was in my time zone. He jumped on a remote connection and was able to get my RAID into degraded mode, which meant I could copy things off of it. I told him if I could get my data I'd be happy and I'd buy a second to replicate to. He was successful. After a few calls back and forth (the same representative was easy to get a hold of), I was up and running. I really have to give their customer support a lot of credit. They did an amazing job.

I use this NASes for everything. In my house, I have Linux boxes that I RMAN back up with, Apple Macs that use Time Machine and my PC, which used to leverage Acronis, and now runs QNAPs netbackup. Then the QNAPs back up to each other. I'm also running Twonky's media server to stream movies and videos to all the devices in my home, and have installed BubbleUPnP to stream movies and videos to my friends homes (with compliant DLNA TVs). At work, I'm able to leverage the FTP site to send large files to customers. Lastly, I installed a DLink Security camera in my front window to catch the dog walker who likes to let his dog Poop on my lawn (no longer a problem), and QNAP's surveillance station handles that.

Bought a TS-469L but wasn't too sure what the difference between the Pro and L were. I called QNAP to see why there is a $100 difference and check if it was worth the Pro version.

Hopefully this helps other people considering QNAP

Both units are part of the 69 series but one is the "light" version hence the L

Pro comes with LCD screen(check basic info), lockable trays, and support SATA III hard drives. The most important factor is probably the SATA III, but to me it wasn't a big deal so I decided to go with the L version

Great product and the TS-469 L is probably one of the fast 4 Bay NAS on the market. Lots of features and great help from the staff when I called.

Purchased QNAP TS-469-PRO-US NAS and 4 Western Digital Red WD10EFRX drives, to be used on my personal vmware cluster. I used to own a Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d, but the HDs in the IoMega would die constantly.

Drives bolted into chassis and came online without a problem. Drives ran quietly, and were immediately identified by the QNAP NAS. This combination of NAS and HDs seems to work flawlessly as of 2 months into my purchase. The WD10EFRX drives are quiet, and run cool. Performance is good. I rate them 5 stars, so far.

I was very happy with this NAS. The QNAP TS-469-PRO-US NAS was easy to assemble, easy to hook up to the network, and easy to configure once I'd browsed to its management interface. It even shows you the proper IP address on the front panel.

I'll post an update to this review at 6 months if I can remember to do so...or as soon as I encounter a problem with either of these products.

(At this point, I only wish I had the money to buy BIGGER WD Red drives, and a Qnap NAS with room for more HDs! Great combo! Way to hit it out of the park QNAP and Western Digital!)

Edit: 02/05/2014
At this point, this NAS has been running flawlessly. It is fast, and runs my vmware cluster without a problem. All of the Western Digital Red WD10EFRX are still working fine, and none have failed.
Another REALLY nice advantage to this box is "One-Button Software/Firmware Upgrade." Log into the GUI, click a button and it handles everything else on its own!

Coming from a Promise NS4300N, all I have to say is WOW!!!!! What a difference! I wish I had gone with a QNAP the first time so I didn't waste time with the other NAS. I put 4 Hitachi 2TB drives: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003S6ID20/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00, and this thing screams. Untuned data transfers are hitting over 110MB/s. I know this is less than advertised, but I haven't played around with the config much yet. However, I do know this is 10x faster than my last NAS!

The UI is also very intuitive and easy to use. Web management is also very responsive. I have had some issues with the DLNA, but I'm not sure that the problem is QNAP. Highly recommended!

Three words - I Love It!. I populated this NAS with 4 WD Red 3TB drives for my 4 home PC network. It does everything and more what is advertised. It is easy to manage and to configure. With this unit on a UPS and "acres and acres" of storage, I expect this will last me a long time with confidence of my data being safe.

This NAS being fully populated with 4 drives, it runs very cool and quiet. In a quiet room and sitting two feet away from it, I could barely hear it with the fan running and disks spinning. Again, I LOVE IT!
