So glad I went with the Magicforce!

I spent an entire week looking for what I thought would be the best first mechanical keyboard for me. I decided to take a chance with the Magicforce. I absolutely adore the keyboard.

Amazing quality for the price. I don't feel like I'm using a "cheap" board. Build quality is great. The champagne-colored metal housing is sleek and modern. The feet on the backside of the board are nicely covered in rubber. The multimedia functions are VERY responsive- even when in use through my old beat up laptop.

The blue OUTEMU switches are great quality. They make typing VERY enjoyable, though I'm sure my neighbors are not impressed with just how loud they are...! They are built identical to Cherry MX switches, so swapping keycaps probably won't be a problem at all.

This $40 model does not include back lighting, however, the Caps Lock key does have a nice green LED that activates only when Caps Lock is on.

I do plan to eventually switch out the keycaps, but they are still very sturdy with a nice texture to them, though some of the keys have some residual markings on them from the printing process.

I would recommend this board to anyone looking to get their first experience with a compact mechanical keyboard, while not investing too much. Just keep in mind that these blue switches, though amazing to type on, are VERY LOUD!

Great minimalist keyboard for coding

I bought this for my office where I have a bit of a space issue and a full sized keyboard just seems too cumbersome. I personally think fewer keys on a keyboard is often a plus and not a minus. This keyboard is even much smaller than a typical tenkeyless keyboard and a great fit for my situation.

I love the fact that the arrow keys are closer and home/end are removed. The ESC and ~ keys are combined and you need Fn to type `. Unlike some of the other mini keyboards I've used before this worked out of the box for OSX (El Capitan). The function keys are accessed with Fn+numbers which is really a non issue for me. Numpads are not mapped. The overall layout makes this keyboard pretty ideal for, say coding in vim. For emacs and other editors you may need to remap the function keys.

While the blue switches are always fun to type with, they are a bit on the too light side especially on this one so I definitely would recommend a different switch for gaming. But the overall build is very solid and the product seems durable. I would say this keyboard is great to get for coding and typing given the price tag.

Inexpensive & compact mechanical keyboard

If you're looking for an inexpensive, compact mechanical keyboard with blue switches, this is the keyboard for you.

I was originally going to buy some Corsair keyboard for $100, but I hated how it looked. I'm a woman, and I feel like most mechanical keyboards are very "guy-gamer" themed, i.e. black/red color scheme with tons of RGB. I prefer a more minimalist look, and the Qisan is perfect. The model I have has a gold aluminum back that has very little flex, so it feels super solid when I type and also looks super stylish. The font on the keys are a little weird, but nothing super ugly. The keys feel fine when I type on them, and honestly for $40, I'm not going to complain that they're not Cherry MX. The Outemu blues feel pretty similar and have that loud and satisfying click and clack. There's only one key that lights up, and that's the Caps lock with a bright green hue.

I loooooove how compact this keyboard is. I don't really need the numpad when I'm at home, so I opted for a ten keyless keyboard. It fits my desk space really well, and lets me have more room on my desk.

Overall, if you're looking for a cheap mechanical keyboard that is both compact and really aesthetically pleasing, go with this one. I almost bought the Qisan browns version originally, but I love the way the blues feel.

I'm a computer programmer working in primarily a Linux environment and to a lesser degree, macintosh. I've owned two Happy Hacker Lite2 "60%" keyboards and their layout is my favorite. The Qisan has almost the same layout with the addition of mechanical keys (as opposed to rubber-dome) as a bonus. This is the least expensive mechanical keyboard that I have ever found. I also own a Mattias Mini Tactile Pro https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FW7FHFE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and I prefer the smaller footprint of the qisan. I also prefer the configuration of the detachable cable on the qisan over the more exposed manner of the Mattias' detachable cable. Since I prefer the use of keyboard input over pointing devices, I also use a Jelly Comb Mechanical Numeric keypad https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IOKZX1S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which I abut to the left side of the keyboard. There are two glitches apparent in key combinations that might not be obvious with more casual use: The Alt+fn+; (semicolon) combination should generate Alt-Home, but does not do so. In addition, the Win+e combination does not generate a keystroke. This is apparent on my dual-boot 2011 Mac mini on both the OS X and the Ubuntu 14.04 operating systems which are installed. I'm guessing that this is a design flaw, rather than a malfunction, so I never bothered to contact the vendor about it. It's minor inconvenience for such an inexpensive unit. Highly recommended for those that like the "60%" footprint.
