The test section was well put together but it seem like it miss some more effective parts for training aspects of the subject.

This course is incredible, but for the most part, relatively simple! Early in the course, Mr. O'Brien expresses confusion at why these techniques aren't included in every elementary school curriculum, and I agree wholeheartedly. I take long walks with my trusty MP3 player, and this course has accompanied me. I'm sure I looked like an idiot laughing aloud as I walked. Remember when you first learned to ride a bike, without training wheels, and you got that agape, wide-eyed look, and that incredulous "HOLY COW, I'M DOING IT" laugh? That was me, when I memorized my first 10 item list. Now, I can do a 100 item list with little problem. And it's ME! I mean... I'm just a regular dude.

My memory has always been laughable. This course changed that IN A DAY. Dominic's speech is conversational. He tells stories, often humorous, which accompany his very well laid-out instructions. For long commutes, or walks, or workouts, this item is invaluable; a lot more constructive than music droning on. I haven't written down a shopping list in... wow... a year? I just keep it all in my head, and it's EASY. The key attribute you must have is a good imagination, and the rest takes care of itself. He teaches you how to calculate the day of the week of ANY date from 1700 to 2099. That kind of thing does involve some pretty dedicated work, but once you do it, it just makes you feel great! Accomplished! And it impresses the hell out of people. I memorized the value of pi to 200 decimal places. Why? Shrug. Because I could. Because it's COOL!

I tought my kids Dominic's "list-learning" method as soon as I learned of it. My teenage son, as most teenagers are, was fairly nonplussed. But my then- 5 year-old daughter STILL remembers the shopping list I taught her at least a year ago.

I own this thing already, and I'm buying it AGAIN, just so I have all my discs in one place. Kind of like a mint-edition copy. I frankly think for the impact its had on my life, it's worth buying AT LEAST twice. Emphatically recommended.

I have nearly all of Dominic O'Brien's books and I find this CD set very detailed and a good educational resource for improving memory.

I think all Dominic's methods are quite easy to learn but his most effective method is the Dominic system which he uses to remember numbers.

Basically he takes sets of numbers 00-99 and converts them to initials of a persons name. Example: 11 would be AA, which would be Andre Agassi. Anyone that knows anything about memory would have to agree its easier to remember a face and a persons name that just a plain number. Each person then has an action so they can be linked to the next person, this can then be put into a journey method.

This system definately works and i was so suprised when it did.

After listening to the CD's Dominic goes on to this system, I decided to stop the CD's until I had learnt this system of 100 names. Like i said, if you really want to learn Dominic's system you have to put in the time and effort. And that is exactly what i have been doing the past few months. I purchased some flash cards and wrote down each number on the back, then the name on the other side and have been learning them for the past few months. I now have 60 of the 100 memorized completely, but i have been taking my time reviewing and go over them as often as possible to put them into long term memory. Those names i kept forgetting, i changed. If you haven't heard of the dominic system you will understand what i mean when you get there.

If you have any hesitations about this system, don't. It works. It just takes the effort and time. It's the same with anything your learning, even a new language, you have to put in the effort and submerse yourself in it in order for it to be effective.

Great Product, well worth it, see you at the next memory championship..lol

After 15 minutes of the course, it's easy to see why Dominic O'Brien is the world memory champion. The first exercise had me remembering 10 random words in exact order. Now, 2 weeks later, that exact string of words is still in my head.

The memory exercises he goes over really do work, and they're honestly not that difficult to learn. The course quality and content is world class. Some of the best teaching I've heard in years.

I'd also like to address a couple of the other comments I saw here on Amazon that almost caused me not to buy this course.

Workbook: So far, I've been doing all the exercises in my car. There really isn't a need for a workbook. If you have to write this stuff down, it pretty much defeats the purpose of using your memory.

Accent: From one reviewers description, I thought the course would be read by an Armenian version of Boomhower from King of the Hill. I was thinking,

"here goes, I'm gonna get this course and not be able to understand a word!?!".

Whoever wrote the review complaining about his accent is an idiot.

Dominic has a British English accent, and is the easiest person in the world to understand. It's a very light accent, and his vocabulary and prose is perfect. As a Native English speaker living in the US, I can honestly say that Dominic O'Brien is easier to listen to and comprehend than 90% of the people I talk to here everyday!

Overall Thoughts

If you're serious about improving your memory (or remembering names, my shortfall) I highly recommend this course. World Class teaching!

I am only on DISC 3, and I have been taught now how to remember huge lists and names. I put this on my way to work every morning. I can't wait to finish the next 3 discs and see where I am at. I realize now, I didn't have a memory problem, I just didn't know how to memorize. I can only imagine how much further I would be in life if I listened to this in high school! I highly recommend as I believe this can be a life changer!

Extrem empfehlenswert!!!

Good tips on how to remember names, places, etc. I think the CD set could have been condensed, as it takes a rather long time to get through the series. If you stop the cd, it is hard to really find where you were at, at the tracks do not really start and stop with a certain topic. Good information though, and highly recommeded if you want to improve your memory.
