...although I understood far too little of it. Shan Gao is a Chinese mathematician, who has written several books and essays dealing with the relationship between consciousness and quantum reality--as well as with certain cosmological issues. I could not follow the mathematics involved & to be honest I didn't try very hard. Still, what I could understand sent me into a trance-like state of intellectual rumination. I would find it difficult to articulate what I got out of it--except for a certain sense of boundless possibilities that are, um, "theoretically" practical, as it were.

This book can be a challenging read but worth the effort. Gao explain the science behind panpsychism, i.e., how faster than light communication is possible. If he is right, it will change our view of ourselves, the universe and quantum physics.

I agree with the author that instant wave collapse between entangled photons should allow us to eventually achieve FTL communication. The hurdle appears to be differentiating between wave collapse and continued superposition of entangled photons. That is, establishing a basis for a deliberate 0 or 1 transmission instead of a random sequence of 0s and 1s. Photon splitting, while possible, I would think still needs significant development to work in this application with 1 versus 2 channel polarizer detection. I would also think that this and other technical difficulties (errors caused by imperfections in the polarizer) may take a while to overcome. I should add; a prerequisite for reading this book may be a fairly good understanding of EPR, Bell's Inequality/Theorem and the correlation differences between local hidden variables and spooky action at a distance of entangled photons.
