Super Bowl Week is supposed to be fun, right?
One mafia boss sees a way to make a killing…
The Jets and the Cowboys are playing in the first Super Bowl in Port City’s new billion-dollar stadium. My old friend Bob Martinez, is starting quarterback for the Jets.
A week before the game, Bob’s supermodel fiancée, Graciela, disappears from the headquarters hotel. Bob hires me to find her but won’t let me involve the cops.
That same day the odds on the Super Bowl game explode when someone bets $100,000,000 on the Cowboys to beat the point spread.
Was Graciela really kidnapped, or did she run away from a twisted secret that threatens her life? And what is Bob struggling so hard to keep me from finding out?
My search leads me from the dangerous streets of a Port City ghetto to the private island mansions of billionaires, movie stars, and crime bosses. When I start to untangle the web of lies and corruption, one crime boss decides to get serious.
As serious as a funeral—mine.

About the Carlos McCrary Series
This fast-paced private investigator mystery thriller series has fans all over the globe. If you enjoy gripping thrillers that mix action, suspense, humor, and plot twists—all with a PG-13 rating—this series is for you.
Find out why N.L. Quatrano said: “Gorham writes the old-time type of good buy/bad guy story with today’s immediate action. The Carlos series is one worth reading, especially if you’ve ever been a fan of Elmore Leonard or Robert B. Parker—but Carlos McCrary is his own kind of PI. Each book has more twists and turns than the one before. Stories are well constructed and readers will enjoy from beginning to end.”

A note from the author:
I am a serious mystery and thriller fan. My novels reflect the books I like to read—usually private detective novels, any of the action, thriller and mystery best sellers, and, of course, books with classic heroes like Spenser (he with no first name) and Jack Reacher (who has a first name but doesn’t use it much). Basically, I like stories with a kick-butt, take-no-prisoners attitude and fast-paced action. And maybe a little sex.

Review
To be clear, I am not a football fan, and I very muchenjoyed this book. I read it all in one sitting, completely unable toput it down until the plot was resolved.
Gorham's writing styleis easy to follow and he doesn't bog the reader down with statistics orfootball-speak that might alienate readers who don't really follow thesport.
I loved all the characters and thought they wereexcellently written. Chuck is great as the main character and I can seehim starring in future novels, such as Alex Delaware for JonathanKellerman, etc.
Even if you're not a football fan, if you enjoy a good mystery/thriller, then I can definitely recommend this one to you.

About the Author
Dallas Gorham is a sixth-generation Texan and a proud Texas Longhorn, having earned a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin. He graduated in the top three-quarters of his class, maybe.
Dallas, the writer, and his wife moved to Florida years ago to escape Dallas, the city, winters (Brrrr. Way too cold) and summers (Whew. Way too hot). Like his fictional hero, Chuck McCrary, he lives in Florida in a waterfront home where he and his wife watch the sunset over the lake most days and where he has followed his lifelong love of reading mysteries and thrillers into writing them in his home office. He is a member of Mystery Writers of America and the Florida Writers Association.
When not writing fiction, Dallas is frequent (but bad) golfer. He plays about once a week because that is all the abuse he can stand. One of his goals in life is to find more golf balls than he loses. He also is an accomplished liar(is this true?) and defender of down-trodden palm trees.
Dallas is married to his one-and-only wife who treats him far better than he deserves. They have two grown sons whom they are inordinately proud of. They also have seven grandchildren who are the smartest, most handsome, and most beautiful grandchildren in the known universe. He and his wife spend waaaay too much money on their love of travel. They have visited all 50 states and over 90 foreign countries.
Dallas sometimes writes a blog at dallasgorham.com that is sometimes funny, but not nearly as funny as he thinks. The website also has more information about his books. If you have too much time on your hands, you can follow him on Twitter at @DallasGorham, or Facebook at facebook.com/DallasGorham. --This text refers to the paperback edition.
From the Author
Q - What makes the Carlos McCrary series exceptional?
A - I consider myself a serious mystery and thriller fan. My novels reflect thekind of books I actually read. My top picks are usually private investigatorand detective novels, any of the thousands of thrillers and mysteries bestsellers, and, of course, books featuring classic heroes: Elvis Cole, Joe Pike, StephaniePlum, King & Maxwell, Harry Bosch, Jesse Stone, Spenser (he with no firstname) and Jack Reacher (who has a first name but doesn't use it much).
Basically, I like stories with a kick-butt, take-no-prisoners attitude andfast-paced action. And maybe a little PG-13 sex.
The Carlos McCrary books are a great mix of these genres. The series focuses onthe mystery/thriller/private investigator genre overall, with a couple ofvigilante justice thrillers thrown in, some political corruption thrillers, andsome organized crime and mafia involvement to keep things interesting!
Overall, I designed the series to keep you up late at night. Once you start abook, it's hard to quit. My favorite emails from readers are those that say, "Istayed up until 4:00 a.m. finishing your book. I simply couldn't put it downand go to sleep." I know those readers got their money's worth.
Q - So, why should readers trythese books?
A - Because the Carlos McCrary series is a fast, fun, thrill-ride that takes noprisoners! Ultimately, if you go for lightning-fast pacing with a plot thattwists and turns all the way to the end, you will get a kick out of Carlos.
Q - In what order should I readthe books?
A - You can read the books in any order. All the stories tie up nicely by thetime you finish. If you want to read them in order, Here's the sequence:
- I'm No Hero (ashort story prequel that introduces Carlos McCrary as a Green Beret inAfghanistan in the military rescue that earned him the Bronze Star medal and aPurple Heart)
- Six Murders Too Many
- Double Fake, Double Murder
- Quarterback Trap
- Dangerous Friends
- Day of the Tiger
- McCrary's Justice
- Yesterday's Trouble
- Four Years Gone

About the author
Dallas Gorham’s books combine murder, mystery, and general mayhem with a touch of humor—all done with a PG-13 rating. His Carlos McCrary, Private Investigator, Mystery Thriller Series can be read and enjoyed in any order.
Dallas writes in the mystery, thriller, and suspense genres. (Take your pick: His novels have all three elements) His stories will get your heart pounding and leave you wanting more. He writes to hit hard, have a good time, and leave as few grammar errors as possible (or is it “grammatical errors”? Hmm.)
In his previous life, Dallas worked as a shoe salesman, grocery store sacker, florist deliverer, auditor, management consultant, association executive, accountant, radio announcer, and a paid assassin for the Florida Board of Cosmetology. (He is lying about one of those jobs.) If you ask him about it, he will deny ever having worked as an auditor.
Dallas is a sixth-generation Texan and a proud Texas Longhorn, having earned a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin. He graduated in the top three-quarters of his class, maybe. He has also been known to lie about his class ranking.
