I thought it would be easier for me to look at a dry erase board to see what's coming up, rather than having to access the calendar on my phone, tablet and laptop where all the important events/dates are noted. However, now I'm kicking myself for buying the board and the markers.
Not a 5 star product simply because not all dry eraser pens work as well on it as the one that came with it.
The pen that came with it, dries on and sticks well. You can't rub off the ink easily, which is nice.
When I tried to use other dry eraser pens I already had, they stayed on the surface and stayed wet, so were easy to rub off.
The surface is very slick, which I figured but come on, why can't other pens work on it as well?
Seems rather silly.
Otherwise, I really like the color. It pops. The size is good too.
It looks well made, not like a dollar store special or anything.
Recommend? Yeah, as long as you don't mind having to use the pen it came with only.
So, a question to the maker...when that pen runs out of ink, then what?
The pen that comes with it is NOT DRIED OUT! Ignore reviews that claim this. It's a wet marker and the tip does not come pre-soaked to make sure the pen doesn't dry out before it's ready to use. You need to vigorously shake the pen and pump the tip against a surface you don't mind getting some ink on. Once the ink is flowing, it writes beautifully and I like the way the color stands out against the black board.
The board arrived with a jagged scratch on the writing surface. I'll be writing directly over it all the time, so I've decided to ignore it.
It's not solid, shiny black all the way around. On each corner, there's this odd kind of scratched-in warp, like stretch marks. Maybe a side-effect of fabrication?
The back is covered in white cardboard. The pen holder is just a plastic tab that is stuck onto the back using mounting tape. It's easy to remove, if you don't want the pen holder, and it looks like it will probably wear out over time.
I didn't use the mounting tape that came with it because I want to be able to remove it from the wall once in a while without destroying the board's backing. I used picture hanging hardware instead.
