We needed a big, high-quality whiteboard for our office -- something suitable for daily work and also as a background for video filming -- and the Quartet Prestige 2 Total Erase Magnetic Whiteboard has been an excellent purchase with only two minor problems.
First, we had no trouble with shipping as some other reviewers had. In fact, our problem was that the item came *too* quickly. We had to schedule the delivery for the following Friday (required for such large items) and I got a call three days early that it had just been delivered. I had to drive into the office unexpectedly and move the box, but I can't really complain that shipping was too good and ahead of schedule!
We didn't have any shipping problems as other reviewers had. The item arrived undamaged and the packaging was sufficient.
The whiteboard itself is a perfect blend of quality and flexibility. It's heavy enough to be called solid, but it's light enough to install on drywall and not worry about it coming down. Because of the size and the specific placement we needed, we drilled one hole into a stud. The anchors are thin, soft plastic that collapse under pressure; to get it into the stud, we put a screw in the anchor and tapped it into the hole until the anchor was flush. Then we removed the screw and began to mount the whiteboard.
The instructions do not come with any written directions, only pictures. That wasn't much of a burden because there aren't many pieces and it's clear. The hard work is measuring and making sure the whiteboard will be level. Once that's done and the first bottom piece is installed, the rest is very easy.
Our only real complaint is that the aluminum marker/eraser tray mounted on the bottom (the final step of the setup process) is very cheap. The mechanism that holds it to the whiteboard is simple, but the corner pieces that hold it into place and cover the bottom screw holes do not hold the bottom tray solidly. Obviously, our focus was the whiteboard itself, so this is a minor gripe (especially at the board's price point), but it wouldn't have taken much to have a tray/corner piece that matched the great quality of the whiteboard.
Our second problem was a factory mistake of some sort. The black top corner pieces that cap the screw holes have a right and left; for some reason we received two right pieces. We'd love to have ACCO send us a replacement, but even without that, the exposed corner holes look fine and go unnoticed as they're 7' off the ground.
As for the board, it's exactly what we expected. It marks easily, the barely-visible grid is helpful, and it looks great mounted. A very good value at $291 for a 6' x 4' presentation-quality whiteboard. Koala Fight Media is happy!
