It's a short read but steamy and sweet, as the hero is a little shy but brooding. I loved it and hope she keeps up taking risks like she did with this book!
First of all, I have yet to read any one else who is killing the Muslim (adult) romance game the way Williams is. So I admit, I’m a fan 🤷🏾♀️.
Not only does Williams’ characters actually have chemistry, she’s not shy when it comes to Muslim characters and on page sexual intimacy. Her romances with Muslim characters aren’t the preachy “Muslims don’t do that” stories that people act like we should have. Because Muslims have sex, fall in love, kiss and it’s all perfectly fine and halal, and we have every right to enjoy it.
In Queen of the Castle, Tarika has the reputation of a spinster with her friends. She’s terrified of committing herself to anyone because she’s witnessed more than a few of the horrible things that men have put her friends through. So the last thing she wants is a man.
Enter her best friend’s husband’s best friend, Aqil. Aqil has other plans. He’s been divorced for a few years and frankly he’s very attracted to Tarikah. If only she would give him the time of day. When the opportunity comes for him to do some work in her house, that just might be his opening to woo the one woman who isn’t interested in being wooed.
Tarikah acted like she didn’t want a man but once Aqil wormed his way in, it was almost like she was putty in his hands. Which was super cute. I’m a sucker for stories where one character falls in love with the other character’s family members. Because what’s more heartfelt than a love interest accepting everyone you love as a part of loving you?
I also really appreciated the mention of integrated cultures at the wedding AND the wedding scene was too cute! I LIVE for weddings in Muslim romances! I apparently have no other words for how much I love everything about Queen of the Castle besides squealing and “ughhh so cute!”
There was sexual tension, chemistry, temptation, the risk of sinning, also character growth and development, that really just made the book that much greater. Lyndell Williams delivered a great story but also proves again that she’s an exceptional romance author. I for one, remain a fan and patiently await until I can claim her next work to be my favorite piece.
