Nikki Lynn Barrett does a fantastic job of giving a build up into the love a couple shares. Yes I recommend you buy this and others of her books, I know I will be.
That being said I wouldn't and haven't read anything I didn't like. This book was a love story at its best, the characters had their own hidden past which they tried too keep buried and in the past only it kept rearing its ugly head to them in their thoughts. Both came from a troubled childhood and both had their demons to fight, together they could beat it or were they strong enough to hear what each other had gone through.
I loved the way it was about the characters rather than the romance, it wasn't all the sex a and love in the usual way. It showed how people could grow together with each other and heal with each other's help, but they also needed to deal with their own demons before they could let anyone else in to love them. Were they strong enough to bare their souls and tell someone what had really happened to them, that they hadn't had the "perfect" life, or was it to hard.
I love the characters and that it shows their life as it is, more like a real life story, how they involve the family and what's going on in their lives, while the main characters try to portray the image of a happy life with no troubles. They met by accident but both feel the attraction although both don't know how to deal with it or even if they should.
She was trying to go from the most killed off actress to a country singer and he was the newest upcoming country singer that had made it big but was suffering after his last album slumped, but there were reasons no one except family and his music team knew about.
It's one of the most powerful love stories I've ever read, I loved it from beginning to end and had a very late night finishing it, I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it and can't wait to read the rest of the series. It made me cry in parts because I could feel their hurt.
The author was very brave tackling the subjects that they did, and it paid off in abundance with great results.
I'd recommend it to anyone that loves a love story at its best without the graphic sex scenes that come with a lot of them. A brilliant book from start to finish.
Queen Of My Heart by Nikki Lynn Barrett
Queen Of My Heart is a stand alone HEA that is book one of the Life Won’t Wait Series. Nikki Lynn Barrett is an amazingly talented writer and has floored me with this novel. She made me feel a whirlwind of emotions ranging from hope, inspiration, and sadness and touched beyond belief.
Quinn is a well-known, although mediocre actress, looking for a career change and decides to pursue singing in Nashville. Tucker is an instant celebrity after winning a singing competition and becomes the King of Country music. One day their paths cross and their lives are forever changed. Tucker overhears Quinn singing one of his songs and become ensnared by her voice and offers guitar lessons just to keep her near him.
Quinn and Tucker are two people shaped and influenced by horrible past beyond their control. Past that nobody should have ever had to endure. Each of them are making new lives for themselves, getting away from a past that haunts them. Their strength of character is awe inspiring. But the Past always has a way of sneaking up on you. Quinn receives word that her sister relapsed and is using drugs. As a result, has lost custody of her baby. Quinn drops every thing and runs to the rescue as always. The only difference is this time she isn’t alone. Tucker, who is haunted by his own demons and attraction to Quinn, insists on going with her. In order to help Quinn get custody of her niece, Tucker makes a spontaneous decision to get married to Quinn and ensuring stability. While this goes against Quinn’s independent nature she agrees. They embark on a wild fairytale-like journey that is heartfelt, beautiful, filled with hardships, love, understanding and most importantly personal growth and healing. “We’re two people trying to find our way in this word despite hardships.” Dealing with their own demons they find in each other the strength they need to face them and find a love that leaves you breathless. “I promise I’m going to show you love the way it should be. The way I want it to be. Ill help you realize you can fall in love with someone, be half of a great relationship, and still be your own person. You don’t have to depend on me for happiness, but you can count on me to do everything I can to bring happiness to your life.”
This is absolutely the most imperfect, absolutely perfect book I have ever read! I have never read a book that had so much ugly in it, written in such a way that it was beyond beautiful and so heart warming. There really are no words for this book. It’s so inspiring to see people who come from such pain, and while they may not overcome it, fight it. As a result, they make the world a more beautiful place and an inspiration to others.
