Elizabeth Longford wrote a classic biography of Queen Victoria. Amazon listed this book as being the ebook version of that biography. However this is a cut down version that is not the classic book "Queen Victoria Born to succeed". I feel cheated that it was linked under that title. Just read Wikipedia if you want this level of information.

This is a smaller version of a smiliar book, and it does give an excellent overview of the life of Queen Victors. It is great for people who would like to know a bit more about the life of this Queen, but are not wanting to dig too deep into all the facts and figures surrounding her life. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has some knowledge of the Victorian Era, but does not want the longer verison of this book which is nearly 600 pages.

I was expecting a bigger book, so I was surprised when this whimpy little paperback arrived. It reads more like a textbook, but is full of great information. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fact filled biography.

I thought this book would be a more personal story of Queen Victoria.
I would recommend this book to history majors.

This book is a concise recording of the details of the life of Queen Victoria. I also bought a much larger bio, thinking I could read the smaller one first, then dig into the larger volume. Wrong! I am reading the larger one first, because it puts into perspective who all the "characters" are in this concise version. It is still a very good book. I'm just not a very good history student.

Really enjoyed this book, it was easy to read, had lots of information on Queen Victoria and her 9 children and of course, her much loved husband. I actually enjoyed it so much that I downloaded another autobiography on Queen Victoria's children. She was known as the "mother" of Europe, as her children were married to various Princes and princesses, and became Kings and Queens as well.

Actually, I probably shouldn't review this book as I am more familiar with the approximately 600 page biography of Queen Victoria that the Countess of Longford published in 1965. It is excellent. I only mention this as one reviewer was disappointed by the length of this version. Those seeking a far more in-depth account by the same author should search for QUEEN VICTORIA-BORN TO SUCCEED.

A very good book, though if you like it depends on your view of the queen. She didn't support feminism, though she wanted to be independent and was reluctant to marry in general, not necessarily Albert. There is some controversy over Albert recently. Some writers claim he wasn't keen on supporting her and got her pregnant on purpose so many times to rule, when she had pains. Remember medicine couldn't do much for pain then. The book provides many pieces of information about her love and feelings for her husband. We all know about how she supposedly fell in love with Mr.Brown. Some claim she was truly independent after Albert died and all that beloved Albert bit from her diary refers to her teenage years or first months of marriage. A good text, though.

An excellent indepth book with lots of fascinating facts but written in an easy style which is enjoyable to read and once you start it is hard to put down. You do not need to be a history geek or knowledgeable to enjoy this book.
