Gr 9 Up—The author's unique twist, zombies meet Lewis Carroll, comes to a dramatic, if unevenly paced conclusion. Zombie slayer Alice Bell leads a group of killers of the undead against the corporation that is controlling the creatures. This action-packed, makeout-heavy volume is high on wry humor and overwrought romance. However, fans of the series will happily cheer on the strong female protagonist and enjoy the tidy ending. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Everything has been leading up to the explosive finish pitting the slayers against Anima Industries. But it’s not a battle that will easily be won. There will be casualties along the way. There will be heartbreaking loss.
Even with new allies, their victory isn’t certain. And even with Ali’s new ability she will not be able to save everyone she loves or keep herself safe from the danger that their enemy poses. But she will not go down without a fight, even if the price she has to pay is her own life.
This final installment in the series is filled with even more heart-stopping action, even steamier romance, and even more devastating, heartwrenching loss. THE QUEEN OF ZOMBIE HEARTS introduces new characters as it says goodbye to characters readers have known and loved, it introduces each chapter with a title that will make readers grin, and ratchets up the tension as it builds to its incredibly climactic conclusion.
There will be shocks and surprises accompanied by tears and heartache along the way. But there will be moments that will make readers cheer and others that will make them swoon. Lingering questions will be answered and by the story’s end everything will be wrapped up with a final note from one of the remaining characters.
Gena Showalter pulled out all the stops when writing THE QUEEN OF ZOMBIE HEARTS. She did not hold anything back and in turn delivered an amazing series-ending story that is unequivocally a must, must, must read.
Ali Bell has gone through a ton in this series, and it didn't stop in Queen of Zombie Hearts. She's gotten so strong over time that she is a true force to be reckoned with which makes it even better that she's so often taken for granted since she looks like she stepped right out of a children's fairy tale book. This one starts off with an ambush that leads to a full-on war and the slayers are fighting two separate enemies (a horde of soul-eating zombies and the mad scientist group Anima). There are a lot of deaths which get harder with each book since I love every single character in this series.
The Blood Soaked Road
Text-speak gets annoying sometimes, but thankfully it's not used too much.
Finally Cole and Ali have patched things up, but this one is in no way easy on their relationship. Ali finds out one of her relatives is responsible for Cole's mother's death. Much drama ensues. There are a couple of moments where Ali seems like that young girl idealizing love that you want to shake, but she corrects herself after a few chapters which is refreshing.
The concepts are unique, the story is very character-driven, and the plot just gets more intriguing. Each book is filled with more new characters to love, a ton of action and sass. Definitely recommended.

Zombies and Anima are back with a vengeance and some really imaginative tactics. Alice gets an unexpected blast from her past that really causes some problems - but may be the only way to solve the even bigger problems. Cole and Alice will have to face another landmine in their relationship that threatens to tear them apart.
The snarky comments and attitudes are still present and they may be even bigger than they were before as we introduce a whole new slayer crew to stir up the existing dynamics.
Warning: You just may cry - it's an emotional roller coaster that never stops. Also, this is a trilogy. Book three wraps up the story very well - but apparently others like myself just wanted more, so there is a fourth. But if you were looking forward to a good ending of the series - it does happen.
Ali has healed her relationship with Cole and is ready to progress in their relationship when she discovers a witness named Helen who gifts her with amazing powers of control over both slayers and zombies. She is confused by the sudden appearances of Helen and soon discovers the truth that she is her birth mother but there is a catch because Helen was the woman that killed Cole's mother and caused him so much suffering but this isn't the only thing Ali has to worry about as attacks from Anima are becoming more frequent and deadly and as the players numbers begin to dwindle Ali must make the sacrifice to save them all.
I highly recommend this series and this book as I enjoyed them hugely and I'm sure you will to.
