Each short chapter is divided into 3 parts: "If This Happens", "Try This" and "Don't Forget". Many of the "Try This" are available in pdf and pptx format that can be downloaded and easily used by mentors, coaches, administrators or professional development trainers.
Each challenge – from a student being disrespectful to you in front of the class, disagreeing with your administrator, being overwhelmed by the newest technology, to your personal and professional lives interfering with each other – is addressed in a straightforward manner, with quick, simple tips and suggestions on how to deal with the challenge in an effective manner.
In some cases, where we might be tempted to think the easier way is ok, the authors show us a better way and stress that the work we do is so important that we must be our best every day, because our students deserve no less.
Thanks for providing a quick handy reference to help us effectively handle (or help others handle) these common issues teachers face.
At first glance, I didn't think this book would have much to teach me, but I found a few gems I plan on trying soon. It's a pretty handy book that I'm glad to have among my resources.
