Quiet Lies by RL Griffin
4.5 stars!!

“Some of the lies we tell hurt, some soothe, some chip away at who we really are and some can break entire nations.”

This was one of those books that once I had finished I had to really think and think hard. I had many emotions swirling around my brain and none of them really made sense. I was so angry at the end and never have I ever wished for karma as bad as I did after finishing this book. This book is filled with many intricacies and it was only when I had reached the end that the little puzzle pieces that are littered throughout this book finally paint a final picture and it was here that I said…that was blinkin clever. So clever in fact, I had to read it again and it was then after a second read that I could really appreciate just how convoluted and cunning this story actually was.

“My days are full of me planning for after he dies and my nights are full of refusing to sleep in order to make sure he doesn’t kill me first.”

RL Griffin is one of the most versatile authors I know, she has tried her hand at many genres and each book I have loved for very different reasons. You can tell she writes from the heart and she goes with the flow at whatever and whoever is currently shouting loudest. I admire her courage in going with those voices, there is no cookie cutter present here, her stories always have their uniqueness and you literally never know what you are going to read until you start.

I have read about many marriages throughout my obsessive reading habit and none have been on the same level as the Pryor’s. This couple deserve their own pedestal, seriously…but what would the plinth say? Most effed up couple ever?

*ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review*

I’m sitting here after just finishing Quiet Lies and I am baffled. I’m blown away and I really have no idea what to write for this review so I’m just going to wing it and be completely honest.

This is the second book I’ve read by RL Griffin, the first being Beyond a Thread. I loved that book but unfortunately haven’t gotten around to finishing the series or reading the rest of her books. I saw on facebook every now and again that RL was writing this story and I thought it looked interesting but really had no idea what it was about. She posted the blurb a week or so ago and my curiosity was peaked even more. So I commented on her post and RL being the amazing person that she is, sent me an ARC. I was very interested in this story so I started reading it right away but still had no idea what I was getting myself into. She would tell me to enjoy the ride and so on but I was like, meh, whatever. I’m sure it’s like every other romance book but with a RL twist. Well boy was I wrong and I’ll be the first to admit it. Never assume people. Never. Assume. There was a twist alright. Holy balls on a cracker. Now for my review that I hope I can write without giving too much away…

Quiet Lies…the title tells it all and the blurb, although interesting and pulls you in, it’s nothing compared to the story at hand. The first 10 chapters or so, I kept thinking how interesting this book was and so on. I was sucked in but life got in the way and I had to put the book down. A couple days later or so, I read and read and read, until my eyes grew heavy, I started seeing double and my heart hurt. I messaged RL a billion times, yelling at her, demanding answers that I knew she wouldn’t give but asked the questions anyway.

I'm so pleased to meet a new author! I'd started about 7 books that didn't hold me. BUT this book, from the start, had me hooked and drawn into the story. (And WHAT a story!)

Things begin with Rebecca about to deliver a eulogy at her husband's funeral. Then, Rebecca shares her thoughts about her marriage to the controlling Sebastian. As I follow her story, I'm thinking she's married to a sociopath. The narrative moves forward, and back and forth, as we see Rebecca at different times in her 14 years of being under the thumb of Sebastian. Just an ordinary "marriage as hell" story? No! The twists, turns, and even the knots of the plot bring a new story to the reader. I was fascinated, and read the entire book in a day.

Not to be missed! FIVE STARS for Quiet Lies!

Wow! I didn't see that coming! Loved this book, it kept me reading and reading, I needed to know what was going to happen. I feel for Rebecca. Such a horrible marriage to be stuck in. I liked how little bits of past and present would come out. Sebastian (Rebecca's husband) is a sociopath that slowly but surely turns Rebecca life into craziness. 13 years of hell! The ending is an 'OMG' moment. This is my first book by R.L. Griffin, I see more in my future.

3.5 star read, I will say without a doubt this author can tell quite a story ! The author's ability to take you on a journey that keeps you up far too late and turning the pages as fast as you can read to try to keep up with all these many twists and turns was impressive for me. The twists and the turns never stopped from the beginning until the very sad end. This story is sad, and its also disturbing and upsetting and there is No, and I mean NO HEA at all just so you are fairly warned. This book is a well told emotional distraught ride for the reader, it is certainly not your average" my husband is a cheating liar book " far from it ,this story is a dark read yet very unique . I will say it was a very dark read for me that is for sure. I would have never ordered such a read if I had known for sure how dark this book would end but I'm also not sorry that I read it because it was a damn good page turning story and I have to give credit where credit is do even if wasn't what I wanted to see happen in the end. Damn this author had some deep twists . The author really deserves a 4 star review from me but with that ending I just couldn't and not because it wasn't a great dark ending because it was , I just wanted a happy one but that is not what this book is about. If your looking for a well written twisted read with so many turns about a marriage made in absolute hell with a ending that leaves you sad, speechless ,defeated and thinking with all your might ******HUGE SPOILER ALERT LINE COMING ******* the famous line " the sins of the father , just wow !!!!!!.
