Jerry D. Harrison began writing his first novel in January of 2004 after retiring early from a large petroleum company. He kept his writing secret from even his wife, Evelyn, until he offered her the opportunity to read the first two chapters of his first work. Her response was, "That's better than what I'm reading now which was written by a famous author." Inspiration!

Jerry had written before, but the forms of writing were contracts, business plans, reports, instructions, correspondence and other such business documents. After publishing his first novel, one of Jerry's former colleagues commented, "Well, there was a little fiction in some of those five-year plans we wrote." Jerry also worked on student publications at Oklahoma State University and at Bartlesville, Oklahoma's College High School. He remembers his English and literature classes as favorites.

Jerry's novels reflect his business experience and his Christian faith. Striking Down Scoundrels is set against corporate takeovers and multi-million dollar funding; Quiet Partner features investment banking and small town businesses; and Devil in the Details deals with complex corporate fraud. Each story includes a thread of some aspect of the Christian faith.

In his "retirement", Jerry has completed three novels while traveling extensively and energetically grand-parenting. He enjoys seeing a well-played football or baseball game, is active in his church, has volunteered as a small business counselor, and walks two miles almost daily. When not writing, he reads classics, histories, and suspense thrillers. Jerry routinely reads and/or studies the Bible. Jerry and Evelyn reside in Tulsa, Oklahoma, have been married fifty years, and have three married children and eight grand children.

Intriguing and well-written story

The author obviously did lots of research and was very thorough in his character developments. (And some very interesting characters are portrayed - likethe tractor driver with a solid business acumen. The story is full of suspense, sadness, and happiness with a good balance. Romance, too and a wonderful overtone of Christian beliefs. Once I got started on this book, I did not want to stop. The reader gets drawn into the story (especially if you are from the midwest and used to live in Boston!) My only regret was when the story ended. Hope the author writes a sequel soon. Very enjoyable and well-written.
