Jim's solo album is of the acoustic alt-country variety. The lyrics are more personal and introspective than his Sleepercar project and the music is slower, relaxing, and upbeat. You get the impression this is his El Paso record - culminating in the song "My Town" where Jim proclaims his love for his hometown; the song works in that the listener can relate to their hometown or a place/person they call home.

Some songs are stronger and stand out more than others such as Coastlines, Broken Songs, and Take it Back. This genre is not what I typically listen to, but I have found myself listening to it despite the lack of squealing guitars and screaming vocals because you can feel the emotion Jim put into writing some of the songs and the delivery. The writing is intro/retrospective and the vocals are adult (i.e. from a learned, experienced, more accepting voice). Some of the songs blend together and don't stand out as much as others - but all in all I think this is a solid album and if you like any of the sample clips, you'll really dig the album.

I really appreciate the inclusion of the Electric Six EP. They are not full-on Sparta-esque renditions, but they are a nice complement to the acoustic album, and some of the strongest songs are on here.
