Installs easily over a subfloor or over an acoustic/insulating underlayment as part of the overall floor assembly, it uses just 12 watts per square foot to gently raise the temperature of the floor. The system, which sports an impressive efficiency, includes temperature limiting properties so the film does not overheat. Perfect floor heating for under laminate flooring

I installed this in our RV and it worked fantastic. The heating mats are very thin and worked great under luxury vinyl click lock flooring planks that I purchased from builddirect.com. I connected the mats to a Nuheat thermostat that I had left from a project years ago and it is working great. When we connect to shore power our toes are toasty and we do not have to run the gas furnace.

Mats are placed ON TOP of the underlayment and directly under the flooring (we installed 12 mil laminate flooring). No mortar required, but I do recommend using a good quality tape to secure the mats, wiring, and underlayment (we used Gorilla tape).
Some chiseling into the subfloor may also be needed to ensure the wires don’t interfere with the placement of your flooring (we only needed to do this in one area where several wires came together).
Also ensure you consider the cumulative amp draw from your layout. We ended up adding a dedicated 15 Amp circuit for each room.
Note, the 240v product will give you more amp flexibility vs. the 120v product, although it didn’t matter for our situation and we installed the 120v system.
Also, QuietWarmth has a very informative website, as well as a super helpful technical support team to assist with any questions. Again, planning your layout is the key to success!

Great product. Installation is very easy - so long as you PLAN your layout beforehand (including wire runs)! Always consider placement of the mats and try to avoid installing the mats where furniture, area rugs, registers, etc. are placed in the room. Installed 4 pads under 1/2" engineered hardwood floating flooring. Routing the wires inside grooves cut in underlayment took the longest (an hour for me). I installed a metal wire-protecting cover where the wiring entered the wall at the sole plate (see pic). I ran the sensor wire out of the same hole in the sole plate, and have had no issues in the 2 months since installation. Recommend you cover the pads with cardboard while working on the raining flooring, and check the impedance frequently during installation. I did it 4 times.

Easy to install but wires add some bulk to flooring

I'm converting a shuttle bus into an RV and used this for in floor heating. Laid the peel and stick vinyl directly on top of this and it all went together pretty smoothly. I had to notch out a groove into the floor though to give more space for the wires to sit lower and in some places there's a very noticeable bump in the vinyl. It's fine for my application but you may want to be sure to put some kind of underlayment on top of this first.
