THEN, I decided to put on the Quikrete clear coat epoxy. It was enough for the two car garage and I put on a pretty thick layer. I did half the garage first again. Just like the other reviewer, the epoxy mostly dried clear but some parts were still white. I waited a week more and there were still a few areas were the white did not disappear; probably about 5%. It seemed to be cloudy white in the lower areas of the wood planks (the planks were not very smooth and has troughs).
I thought that maybe it may be because I didn't stir the epoxy well enough. So on the second half of the garage a month later, I stirred the hardener in 2x longer than specified and shook the paint can vigorously for 30 minutes. I applied and, well... some parts still remained white. I tried putting on a heat lamp to one area to see if the white would go away but it didn't. I decided to wait a year before putting in this review... it's still white in those areas. I put in a picture that shows the milky product when it was wet. The next photo shows part of the floor done with the white cloudy part between the wood planks. I used an elastomeric compound that covered the 2x4 gaps previously. The milky white area is still white now which is a year from when I took this photo.
Now I'm thinking that maybe I should've gotten the epoxy that went on clear instead of milky like this product. Unfortunately I didn't test out the garage by putting in my car as my garage is currently being used as a storage room. But so far, the epoxy is still holding up on the wood garage floor!
The product is dry to walk on today, but we will leave it for a few more days before we move in. It looks great, but really we were just using it to enhance the acid etching below, which also looks good. I am not sure I would like the look in a living room or such, but for a basement, it is perfect!
