Format: Paperback
Quilter's favorites, volume 2, Pieced Points and Stars is a great collection of projects, ranging from beginner to challenging, from 10 different designers. Techniques vary from project to project: regular piecing with rotary cut pieces or pieces cut by using templates or specialty rulers are mixed in with paper pieced projects some of which involve curves. These projects are taken from previously published books, but since I don't own all of them, it contains plenty of new projects to keep me busy.

Detailed how-to instructions are included, so if you haven't tried paper piecing or haven't cut fabric with a template, you won't need additional books to do the projects. The templates included are full sized, so a trip to the copy center to enlarge them isn't necessary. The photographs of the quilts are very good and photos are also used to illustrate the how-to instructions.

There is a project for just about everyone in this book! I don't know where to start. Maybe at the beginning with Alex Anderson's Half-Square Triangle quilt!

Modern quilters, don't just buy the newest books. A lot of older ones have great and maybe even more creative content. Just because they use "dated" fabrics doesn't negate the beauty and inventiveness of the designs and color choices. After all, you don't have to do YOUR quilt in batik! This series is an example. I go to these ideas again and again. Fresher designs and color choices/combos than most more "current" books on market now.

Format: Paperback
Quilter's Favorites: Pieced Points and Stars is a large quilt book, containing 19 quilt patterns from many well-known quilt designers and teachers. I really liked this book, as it contains a lot of different methods and styles of quilts. There are also patterns made for beginners and some for more advanced quilters. Each pattern is labeled on its difficulty. From paper-piecing, to making curvy star legs, to New York Beauties, to making template-free stars, you will find many projects that appeal to you. And if you haven't learned to make star points by now, at the end of the book, I guarantee you will have them down pat.
There are so many patterns in here that I have seen before and have been thinking about making, but they are all here in one book, all together!
