Peggy has been quilting for years. The book grew out of her collection of calculations, directions and notes about calculating yardage and other quilt measurements. At a certain point she realized that she was reinventing the same formula each time she started a quilt. She put all of those bits and pieces together into a comprehensive guidebook.

Bought this guide hoping it would be a true Pocket Guide. Extremely disappointed. It is difficult to decipher and the formulas are complex. It's faster for me to find the yardage faster on my own. I have downloaded "cheat sheets" from various sites that are much better and cost nothing. Don't waste your money on this "The Quilter's Pocket Reference Guide: An Easy Guide to Yardage and More".

As an experienced quilter, this book is extremely helpful in figuring yardage, borders and every phase of quilting. If you are changing block sizes or creatiing your own masterpiece, this book provides excellent instructions with plenty of examples. Anything involving math calculations, there is always an example so you will not become confused and give up. Just this morning I used the hanging sleeves directions because I am putting the quilt in a show. I used to make up something and it worked. This book gave me the standard measurements, along with a clear picture and it is done. Peggy Scholley, also provided an alternative application for the sleeve. So you have a choice. This reference guide will help you in all of your quilting needs and calculations and especially in your purchase of fabric. Lastly, you will have all of your questions answered and not be bothered by a lot of other books taking up space in your quilting area. This is all you need.

This is one of the best things that I have purchased for my quilting room in a while. The best feature for me is the Bed and Batting Sizes page. I was never sure how large to make a quilt for a certain bed size. I have not gotten that far into the guide, but I cannot wait to use the other charts that are in the book. I also like the layout feature for backing. That was one of the things that I did not like to try to figure out on my own. Do I sew the seams the length of the fabric or do I sew the seams the width of the fabric? I have put this in the tote that I use when shopping for fabric.

It is great to have this handy guide in my purse when I am shopping for quilt yardage in the fabric stores. I don't need to write it all down beforehand, as I can figure it right there in the quilt shop. Sometimes, I find a special fabric I need, when I least expect it and I can quickly figure the yardage with this handy reference book. Wouldn't be without it whenever I am out looking at fabrics!!

This book is a must have. If you want to figure out stuff quickly without having to do a lot of math (ewww-YUK) then you need this guide. It's filled with information about how much yardage you need for the back of your quit, how many squares can I get out of... what to cut for half square triangles. I lost mine, or misplaced it and had to have this at my fingertips.

This quilter's guide has all the information you need for calculating how much fabric you need for a quilt. What are the measurements of a queen size bed? How about an extra long twin bed? You don't need to try and memorize that kind of information if you have this book. Better buy one now. You won't be sorry!
