Vampires in America/Vampire Wars by D. B. Reynolds is a series that I immensely enjoy and recommemd often. The only book that I failed to read more than once was Sophia and that's because I prefer the male Lords (don't take my feminist card, please!😁). Sadly, it pains me greatly to say that Quinn takes the number two spot as a least favorite in the series. I really struggled connecting with both characters. Eve was on a ill-thought out mission of vengeance and often took careless risks. She differed far from all the other "mates" in the series who were methodical and trained in weaponry or some type of law enforcement. Eve paled in the mate lineup although her motives were just. Quinn was far more engaging in the novella that introduced him to the series. In his own book he too seemed to pale when compared to the other Lords. I understand that the Vampire Wars will not be exactly like the ViA series proper and perhaps my discontent was with those differences. There were two other factors that kept me from loving the story as usual. There seemed to be a bit of inconsistency with the timeline of technology. Quinn was turned 57 years ago but there seemed to be references to him using computers and cellphones then which seemed to throw me off a bit. Also, the story felt much slower in terms of its action octane. The action really came in at the last quarter or so of the story which made the story feel longer without it.
I hate leaving a review that isn't 5 stars because this series as a whole is amazing. Here's hoping that the next installment blows my socks off.

The Vampires in America series has been at the top of my to be read list since I disovered the first book (Raphael) seven years ago.I have found every book to be action packed, fast paced, believable and peopled by facinating, three dimensonal, characters. Each vampire Lord or Lord to be is a sexy, incredible handsome, carismatic, dominate alpha male. The principal females are smart, independent, strong willed and beautiful.
I was very disappointed in this book. There was no substantial connection between Quinn and Eve and in at least the first 75% of the book it seemed Quinn felt he could easily walk away from Eve. Quinn and Eve both lacked depth or substance. There was no developing relationship between them. Eve seemed inmature and lacking in confidence as well as depth.
This particular book is the beginning of taking the Vampire War to Europe and should be pivitol in the series, but it just fell flat. Additi onally, there were inconsistencies in the story and intermittent evidence of poor editing. For all of these reasons I rated the book at 3 and assigned it a sexy rating of 3.
The author suffered a personal tragedy in 2017 and is still trying to find her way. That in my opinion accounts for the lack of "life" in this book. I hope that she will be able to progress in her efforts to reastablish her equiliberium.

To begin, I love The Vampire in America series but I was very disappointed in this book. No connection between Quinn and Eve. For 75% of the book, I wasn't even sure that they would get together as Quinn gave the impression he could easily walk away from Eve. They mostly just had hook up sex. Another thing I didn't like, Eve came off as being somewhat immature and not a strong female as the rest of the women in this series. It was very surprising that at the end, you have Quinn telling Eve he loved her, when he never gave any indication of his feelings toward her during the book.

What happened to this series?
While I love this series, this book was seriously lacking. Spoiler alert. The first MAJOR problem was that the characters had sex practically when they first meet. While I don't think they need to be in love before sex, it would be nice to have more chemistry and buildup. Once that happened Quinn seemed eager to seek out Brenda/Nora for a quickie. And what's with all the inconsistencies? Was the editor on vacation? Quinn has been a vampire for 57 years which would means he was converted in about 1960 and he apparently owned a cell phone. And if that wasn't enough, Quinn graduated from an Ivy League college but it changed from Harvard to Princeton. ARGH! Which gets me back to Brenda who later became Nora, a women he took blood from earlier in the book and later sought out for a quickie after he and Eve (the female that will be the love of his life?) had sex twice. See where I'm going with this? To be fair, when I later read the acknowledgements at the end of the book, it sounded like the author had a bad year. With that said, isn't it up to the editor to correct these errors? I'm not usually one to fixate on this stuff but this was so obvious, I had to comment on it. Getting back to Quinn and Eve, I'm not sure how they ended up together at the end. There seemed to be a hint of something more than sex but it never really developed in the story. If not for Eve offering herself in place of Brenda/Nora, Quinn seemed ok without her. Eve seemed promising in the beginning as a badass vampire killer seeking revenge for her brother but something happened to her personality after she and Quinn had sex. What a wimp she was with her mother and a jealous lover with Quinn. Goes back to the original comment, let the relationship develop first. If the next book is as bad as this one, I'll have to cross this author off my "must read" list.

Another great instalment in the VIA series that sets the scene for the next wave of novels
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 15, 2018Verified Purchase
Reynolds takes the fight to Europe in a novel that is a pivotal transition in a much beloved series. Reynolds has done it again, creating complex and relatable characters with compelling back stories that you hunger to know. She offers up a slow burn romance which delivers a scorching love match that should never have been! Effortlessly bringing the plot across the pond from the US to Europe, but keeping the story tight and focused on Quinn’s challenge to become the Irish Vampire Lord, Eve’s revenge arc and of course the love that builds between these two characters from disprite worlds. Reynolds has set the scene for a new generation of dark, broody and unapologetically violent and sexy Vampire Lords and the strong willed and feisty human mates they can’t help but fall for. Complex and worthy humans who remind their Vampires of their humanity and teach them to love without reservation. I’m waiting with baited breath for the next exciting instalment.
‘Quinn’ is the twelfth instalment in D.B. Reynolds’ Vampires in America series, which started with the fab ‘Raphael’. Each of the main titles (excluding the vignettes and Cyn/Raphael novels and novellas) are focused on an individual vampire and his/her mates and can be read in isolation. However, there is a complicated plot arc across the series, with couples and secondary characters from the previous novels which appear throughout the series and some of which become the protagonists for the later novels, not to mention crossover with the Stone Warrior series. As a result, there’s spoilers for previous novels throughout the series, though less so in ‘Quinn’, but I’ll get to that later. For the most enjoyment and to read the full plot as it unfolds without spoilers follow the reading order from Reynolds’ website which is kept up to date with each publication.
Reynolds is quick to establish the sizzle between the protagonists, but with expert care and attention uses the unfolding challenge between Quinn and the incumbent Lord and Eve’s quest for revenge to drive a slow burn development of the romance. When they first come together it is passionately explosive, each holding back secrets, making it seem impossible for them to trust each other. With each successive moment they fail to resist the passion between them, the feelings coursing beneath the surface are amplified. With each encounter it becomes more difficult for them to brush off and deny their emotions, until uncomfortable truths must be faced and bared, whatever the consequences. Much is made of how to reconcile their seemingly insurmountable differences when it seems at first they are on opposite sides.
Reynolds writing style makes the journey from lusty adversaries to devoted and passionate lovers seem so effortless. If I’m picky at all, a longer epilogue exploring them as a true couple would have been nice. But.... knowing Reynolds this won’t be the last we see of this fab pair and I’m looking forward to see what happens next.

i wont give it 5 stars as i did not think the story line was good enough and the book was to short, it look like to me that she ran out of story line, the other one in the series i did not go much on is Sophia.
I do hope the next story will matched this one by far as its in Scotland will there be a London Lord?
