6 SPELLBINDING ~ TITILLATING ~ SENSUAL STARS!!!--Lady Vigilante, Goodreads Reviewer
6 STARS- Best book/Best Series of 2013--Hook Me Up Book Blog
“All my life, I battled with the knowledge I was twisted… screwed up to want something so deliciously dark—wrong on so many levels. But then girl fifty-eight entered my world. Hissing, fighting, with a core of iron, she showed me an existence where two wrongs do make a right."
Tess is Q’s completely. Q is Tess’s irrevocably. But now, they must learn the boundaries of their unconventional relationship, while Tess seeks vengeance on the men who sold her. Q made a blood-oath to deliver their corpses at Tess’s feet, and that’s just what he’ll do.
He may be a monster, but he’s Tess’s monster.
***
This is a story of sweet tragedy. It contains hard to read scenes, but there’s always light in the darkness.

The story is told in revolving POV, with Q and Tess taking turns each chapter. They except the fact that Q is a twisted sick f**k when it comes to his desires and Tess convinces Q he can do whatever he wants to her, she wants him to. Urges him to...and oh boy...
Being inside the head of a submissive while she is in the midst of being whipped or whatever the implement of domination, wow, amazing! The way it is written is no ordinary or expected erotic scene. It builds and builds til you're caught up with every emotion of both characters. That is what I truly love about a great D/s story. I want to know that the characters are miserably , happily, crazily, sexually, deviantly, head over f*cking heads for each other. It is not easy to convey that emotion (when it is not PNR and the characters do not have a "mating heat" to fall back on) and I enjoy being able to witness it, not once but twice in one series.
The meat of the story swirls around a devastating event that happens to Tess. I won't delve to deep into it but suffice to say she does not come out the other side whole. What that does to Q it heartbreaking to watch. He admits to himself he loves her and it scares him to think someone has changed him, tamed the beast.
In conclusion, for those that need the sigh of relief, this does have a happy ending but damn you have to walk over razor blades and swim through lemon juice to get there. I thoroughly enjoy Mrs. Winters books thus far. I have [book:Twisted Together|19015729] already queued up to read next and after that her INDEBTED series. I love the psychology of a dark and twisted mind, but I need to know that there can be something to heal that mind, and tame the beast within.

WOW! I stayed up until the early hours of the morning to finish reading this book because I just could NOT put it down. I had to know what happened, and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep until my Q was happy. Heads up, this book is much more emotional to read and darker than Tears of Tess (TOT). But it will consume you and have you on the edge of your seat anticipating what will take place next.
Quintessentially Q (QQ) begins within days of Tess coming back to Q after he shipped her back to Brax in an effort to try and protect her from the monster Q believes he is. Tess is determined to get Q to open up and share his life and secrets with her. Q has asked for time since he is struggling with his dark desires and wants to keep Tess safe. But Tess is impatient and pushes him too hard causing Q to lose control. If we learned anything about Q in TOT, it's his unmistakable NEED to always be in control in order to function. He feels week and lost when not in control. At this point, I'm thinking the plot in QQ is going to be about building their new relationship and Tess struggling to get Q to open up. However I was totally WRONG and never expected what happened. Tess comes face to face with the cause of her nightmares, and this time they are determined to break her stubborn and headstrong spirit. Q made a promise to Tess, and he will stop at nothing to make her safe and kill the people who kidnaped and sold her.
Both Tess and Q go through some very serious sh!t in this book. They are each others soul mates and need to be together to feel whole. My heart broke for both of them, and my emotions were all over the place from stressed, to sickened to heartbroken. Then I was at the point where I was so MAD at Tess for her attitude and her willingness to give up without a fight. I wanted to reach through the Kindle and strangle her for what she was doing to Q. How dare she!! He has done so much for her and loves her so deeply! I wanted her to fight for him - if not for herself! UGH!! You'll know what I'm talking about when you read it. And then what Q gives up in order to help Tess finally open her eyes - get your Kleenex ready. This is a gut wrenching scene that broke my heart. Q may be dark and damaged, but he has a heart that outshines many others. And once he realized that his feelings for Tess were love, he embraces those feelings.
In QQ, we get to know a little about Frederick who is one of Q's closest friends and a business partner; and we also see more of Franco. Both of these men are very protective and loyal to Q. Suzette also reaffirms her loyalty for Q.
QQ is told in dual POVs, so we get the luxury of living in both Q's and Tess' heads.
Pepper Winters gives us a wonderfully written dark love story. Be prepared to experience an array of emotions in this story, but please make sure you set aside the time needed to read without interruptions. Oh, and we are given a surprise at the end. There will be a third book entitled Twisted Together, expected to be released in Spring, 2014. We even get a sneak peak. I cannot wait!

Well, if I was on the fence about Q Mercer going into this book, I am FIRMLY on the YAAAAAAS side of it afterwards! 😍🔥
The character arc that Q goes through in this installment of the MitD series is.... 🤌🫦
I was legitimately concerned with some of the needs that he had and how they would effect Tess (mentally and physically,) but the sheer amount of self searching, sacrifice and growth that Q shows is incredible.
He's definitely a keeper!
Tess had an arc of her own and, due to no fault of her own, I feel like her arc went the opposite way from Q's, and she regressed rather than progressed. Though we do get a "happy ending" I feel things aren't as happy for Tess as she would like everyone to think. (We shall see in the next book.)
This book is dark, gritty and raw. Pepper keeps surprising me with just how far she will take us into the world of human trafficking. She does not gloss over details but instead makes Tess's experience feel real, which, in my opinion, makes a story that much better!
I thoroughly enjoyed Quintessentially Q and am eagerly looking forward to seeing what is in store for Tess and Q in the third and final novel of Monsters in the Dark.
**This book is quite a bit darker than Tears of Tess and a full list of TW/CW can be found on Pepper's website and at the beginning of the book.** What I do love about Pepper's writing is, although things may get very dark, there will always be a light shining in that darkness.

This took a turn I didn’t see coming and that made my jaw drop. I was on the edge of my seat for every single moment and I loved it! This contains some heavy topics and you m follow both characters go to the depths of hell and trying to get back up. This is written so perfectly and detailed that you can almost feel it in your bones, I have no words.
Loved it!
At more than one point, I thought to myself that there was no coming back from what just happened. I mean, how..? For both of them! It was savage.
TESS
So let me, first of all, say that Tess has come to be one of the strongest characters that I have enjoyed reading about. Like I said in my review of book one, Tears of Tess, she was a bit of a pain in the butt for me at the beginning and I wasn’t too impressed. However, by the end of Tears of Tess, she had impressed me and my heart was hers.
In this book, she blew me away. The feels. Oh My God, the feels!
Tess has decided that Q is the one for her and nothing is going to get in her way. Not even him. So, off she trots to his humble abode (ha, right!) to prove to him that he needs her as much as she needs him.
Just when it looks like she might be able to make things work between her and Q, life once again says “nope, not yet”, and her world ends, basically.
What she endures is nothing short of horrendous and you really feel like you want to reach through the pages and just hold her.
Q -
We finally get to see the world, and Tess, through Q’s eyes and it is as terrifying as it is beautiful and exciting! This man is so close to his primal instincts that he could almost be closer to animal than man.
He is scared to death of letting Tess in somewhere that no one else has dared to go. He feels that there is no way he can give her what she needs outside of the bedroom...or kitchen...or dungeon...or helicopter but he just can’t stop himself from having her.
Things are just getting interesting for them and then...life just stops. Tess is gone. Taken. And it messes this man up to a royal degree. We see the monster that he tries so hard to keep hidden come out to play. And play it does.
FINAL THOUGHTS on QUINTESSENTIALLY Q by Pepper Winters - I did not want this book to end. And I needed this book to end, ya feel me?
So, imagine my surprise when I dived head first into Pepper Winters Monsters in the Dark series, (Tears of Tess being the first book I read from start to finish since November, it’s now June) and fell for the moody, dark and frankly dangerous Q Mercer.
Those who know me well, know my longstanding love for a certain sadistic priest, and never in a million years did I think I would ever find anyone who was even remotely on parr with him… so what happened? Where on earth did Q appear from? And why haven't I met him sooner?
After reading Tears of Tess, I instantly downloaded Quintessentially Q. I was left with a longing to know more about this truly unique couple. I wanted to know where they went from there, and how on earth did they get their ‘happily ever after’
I’ve been drawn to this series in ways I haven’t been to anything in a long, long time. When you literally can’t put it down because it’s completely consuming you, and even when you’re made to put it down, you’re thinking about them all the time.
In this instalment, Pepper takes us even further into the dark. We as readers, are pushed to the limit much like Tess is. I had moments of wanting to stop reading, just to try and work through the barrage of feelings these characters and their circumstances made me feel.
I won’t give any spoilers, after all, if you want them… they are out there for you to find. What I will say though is that this is much darker then Tess… it’s a much more uncomfortable read and yet… I found this one more addictive. I needed the next page like I needed my next breath and I loved every single second of it.
