I've been a writer for as long as I can remember. It's not something I do so much as something I can't not do. I just love the English language, and English has been the thread that has run through my life, whatever job I've found myself doing in order to pay the bills.
In 2003, I became an English teacher. I became a teacher because I rightly felt that it would give me an even deeper insight into the workings of the language I love. It also gave me an excuse to move to Seville, Spain, where I enjoy perpetual sunshine. Not that it matters much were in the world I am as far as teaching is concerned, as I teach exclusively online to students around the world. I've taught 174 students in 40 countries at the time of writing, and their, sometimes tricky, questions about English have helped me to a profound understanding of the English language.
To attract students, I began making YouTube videos in 2009. I've now made many hundreds of them and they have been watched millions of times. I began to dabble in 2D and 3D animation, too, and this led me to the idea of teaching through comics. I launched the Englitainment series of comics in 2017, each designed to present an aspect of English in as entertaining a way to students as possible. Stone Soup is the first in the series and there are many more in the pipeline.
