    5. How did we get our start?

      Joe Hyman started a family business in New York City in the 1930’s. He brought the first bamboo blinds into the U.S. and popularized them across the country. Since then, bamboo roman shades and venetian blinds have remained a staple of our business today.

      In the 1950’s working with early DIY and hardware stores, the business began to grow by installing venetian blinds in army barracks and becoming a supplier to the Sears Catalogue.
