This unit is very solid and works well. FYI I got it for a Gopro camcorder with a tripod mount but the video is too shaky when this is mounted on Harley handlebars – at no fault of the mount. It’s still useful for a camcorder or a camera in other situations where vibration isn’t an issue. I also use the base section of the mount with Ram's cell phone holder. That works great on the motorcycle. It's nice to know that this is an American product.

Mounted on the handlebar of my SV1000N it has not required any attention during the fifteen+ thousand miles it's seen. (Haven't put my Nikon camera on it much, I admit.) I do get a bit of vibration during filming, probably because of the rather long length of the stem, and I'm surprised to see a bit of corrosion on the metal even though the bike is garaged when not in use. It's seen its' share of rain on the road.

Bottom line, I'd buy it again.

I didn't really like this mount. It kinda works, but I only used it twice & here's where I found it lacking:

It is difficult to mount, since it doesn't have wing nuts, or anything helpful like that, and it's tough to wrench it tightly.
It is tough to get it tight enough on the rail to prevent slipping.
It is difficult to get the ball sockets tight enough to prevent slipping.
The post that the camera mounts to - it isn't locked in. Your camera may unscrew from the post, or the post may unscrew from the base. It need a nut, or something to keep the post in the mount.

Keep in mind, the issues I had with this unit slipping were mostly when I was using a (small) video camera in a dive enclosure. It was somewhat heavy, but I still don't think it was all that much to ask of a rail mount camera mount system. I don't recommend this part, although I have been well satisfied with my other RAM Mounts.
