UHF and VHF Channels in HD
RCA’s innovative SmartBoost technology offers precise amplification and allows TV tuners to pick up and amplify the right TV signals, unlike competitors’ amplifiers that also amplify background broadcast noise. SmartBoost amplifies weak signals to preserve purity while reducing signal noise with precision circuitry. Better amplification = More channels!
Many antennas on the market are optimized to receive only UHF broadcasts and do not reliably receive VHF. All RCA TV antennas are precision-tuned to receive both UHF and VHF frequencies and will provide you with the most HD content that is available in your area - the most popular over-the-air TV shows, news, sports and more.

When I got this item out of the box the first thing I noticed were that the rabbit ears are only about a 1/3 the length of my original unit. My original RCA has rabbit ears over 3ft. long.
When connected to my set the old antenna with one ear outperformed this new unit by far! Disappointed for sure. Upon closer look I found that my old unit is a 112F and this new one is a 111F. I had no idea they made 2 models of this particular antenna. I don't know if they discontinued the 112F with longer ears or it has been redesigned as the 121F, I just don't know. My broken unit is only a year old and a search for the 112F comes up with this 111F antenna I am reviewing. Beware if you are like me and want to replace your dependable old RCA antenna with the same one. The only way to tell what you have is by the serial number underneath the black stand.
I'm returning this and looking to buy the 121F model. Reviews say that it has the 3.5ft rabbit ears, so I am going to try it out.
I really was not expecting much and just hoping I could get MeTV.. Well to my surprise when I did the CH scan, I picked up 64 crystal clear channel’s.. Including MeTV.. And my TV is not even located by a window or anything.. I just placed the antenna on top of my TV.. Thin Flat screen TV so had to use some Velcro to secure it on top..
I retire in 4 years and plan to drop my cable TV and just use over the air TV and Netflix and this little cheap antenna has convinced me I can do it..
In fact, I just ordered 2 more of these just to keep in case they stop making them or they go up in price..
My Location is the DFW area right in the middle.. By DFW airport.. Maybe I am just in a good location to pick up over the air TV.
Most of the assembly is of acceptable quality. Exercise caution handling the telescoping elements, however, since they are made out of thin metal and can be bent easily. The base is sufficiently heavy to keep the antenna stable. While thin, the cable is high quality; it has both a foil wrap and braided wire shielding surrounding the inner dielectric.
Antenna performance, however, is terrible. For any given channel, I found that this antenna performed no better than a quarter-wavelength piece of wire jammed into the connector of my television. In contrast, a simple pair of VHF "rabbit ears" from an old TV combined with a 300 Ω-75 Ω matching transformer far outperformed the new RCA antenna when adjusted to have the same geometry and orientation. This was even the case for UHF channels, which aren't even in the target band of the rabbit ears.
Since the antenna element design is effectively identical to my old rabbit ears and the cable tested good, I determined that the band-combining transformer must be the weak link. I have a few spare band-combining transformers from the era of 300 Ω TV tuners, so I transplanted the innards of one into the base of the RCA antenna. The results are fantastic; now the antenna pulls in strong signals across all bands.
In summary, I advise against buying this antenna. Its only value is in its antenna elements and base, which can be reused if you can supply a better band-combining transformer.
Note: This antenna was tested in Redwood City, CA, about 24 mi from the transmitting antenna.

However the product I received looks like the other 3 photos - much shorter dipoles. They only extend to 14.5", which means bad or no reception at all for VHF channels 2-6. The box confirms this - it specifies 174 - 216 MHz (channels 7-13) and 470 - 698 MHz (which does not even cover all UHF channels)
So, either this is a counterfeit or RCA decided to save couple cents in manufacturing costs and made dipoles shorter, slashing half of the frequency range in the process.
UPDATE: checked the box - what I received is ANT111Z model, which according to RCA site is indeed 15" antenna, not good for lower channels.
