Don't waste your time and money on this item.
I installed this "Booster" to an indoor digital antenna. I ran the channel scan and it picked up about 5 additional channels. However the channels it picked up had a very weak signal. Also the channels that the antenna picked up without the booster were weaker than they were without it. I am returning this item immediately

I bought this recently because I was having problems getting in certain channels and wanted to get in the weak ones, plus make the ones that I got in stronger.

After reading reviews on this brand, I decided to get it.

Pros: It does make the channels that you already get in stronger, which I think is worth the money spent on this thing.

After unhooking the antenna, turning off the converter box and letting it sit for a minute, then turning it back on and re-scanning again, I was able to get the channels I missed on my TV again. The amp made them stronger and easier to watch. Instead of four channels (sometimes seven when the weather is cooperating), I now get 11 channels. (In my area, we are supposed to get fourteen)

I can use this amp with a philips/Magnavox pair of indoor rabbit ears with the vhf/uhf turn dial thing. My converter box is also a magnavox.

Cheaper to buy through a vendor here on amazon, instead of going to a high priced electronics store and buying it there.

I don't have to call the cable company, become a subscriber (slave) to basic cable and shell out cash for the box, the monthly service and the fees. (Go ahead and call me a Scrooge, but I don't have the money for that stuff)

Cons: You have to pay the plug flat down or it's side.

Also recommended:

Be sure to get a longer cord and connectors so you can take the rabbit ears into any room of the house. I can get hard to find channels if I place my indoor rabbit ears near the window.

Check out places like Antenna web for what you can get in and how to position them. It's free to use.

You may have to use tin foil for the tops of the "ears" of the antenna.

Keep the Rabbit ears away from computers and electronics. These interfere with the strength of the signal.

Unhook the antenna, re-scan the converter box without the antenna hooked up, then turn off the box and let it for a minute or two. Hook up the antenna, turn on the box and rescan for channels. Sometimes, your box will lose the information from one or more channels, so that is why you re-scan. Extend the rods for channels 2-6, do not extend the rods for channel 7 and above.

A highly recommended buy for the serious tv viewer who doesn't want to pay high prices for cable tv.

Does not reduce pixelation of picture from nearby stations

I have the RCA ANT121Z Durable Passive Indoor Antenna. I live only a few miles from all the major stations. Two of our TVs are situated inside cabinets, and we wanted to improve the consistency of picture quality from the RCA antennas that we placed behind the TVs. The picture quality on a couple stations varied from being very good to pixelated. Adding this amplifier did nothing to eliminate the pixelation, and it obliterated reception from the CBS station that's only 1.5 miles away, UHF channel 58. The only way to eliminate the pixelation is to place the RCA antenna outside the cabinet the TV is located in.

For the channels that I already get the pictures are crisper. The reason I bought this is for to channels that the stations are over an hour away and I'm having problems getting a clear picture for those the picture is better but not a 100% of the time and sometimes it's in the middle of a recording that the picture messes up I don't think it is this product's faults I think it's just those 2 stations are too far away. If you live in a rural area it may work, but you are better off getting hulu live or Something else that offers local channels.

Once I put this on I had several channels that would not come in they came in and clear picture. now mind you this is absolutely a great product it depends where you live etc . I want to get the best quality of this item the amplifier is great I am adding an additional attenna that should bring the amplifier even better and bring in more channels do to where I live I have to add additional equipment to help the amplifier out . hope this helps

This product, and likely any antenna amplifier you choose will be "hit or miss", which I was aware of before I made this purchase. I installed this hoping to improve the signal on one particular channel (PBS), which actually got little worse after installing the amplifier. With that said, I did pick up one additional channel and reception was noticeably improved on a couple of others. So the end result was the channel I wanted to improve got worse, but some channels did get better. I will play with antenna placement/alignment when I have some time, and hopefully find a good combination that will be acceptable for all the channels I'm interested in receiving.

Don't waste your money

I installed this on my Recast because I keep getting low signal warnings. Of course it's super easy to install. Just screw in the co-axe and plug it in. I thought I had better reception but after a couple months I keep getting the Low Signal warning and some channels break up throughout making them impossible to watch.
My overall opinion is this thing is junk. Don't waste your money.

I got this hoping to coax my 50-mile passive indoor antenna into getting a firmer hold on the PBS signal that I had incredibly captured from downtown Montreal. The transmitter is a little beyond 50 miles away, and I lost the signal in the middle of the Trump-Clinton debate on Sep 26 (the one occasion in which I was watching tv in over two years - but I continued watching on Twitter). The amplifier was shipped fast, and I was very hopeful I might even get another US channel. To my dismay, I got fewer channels with the booster, and lost PBS, in all my attempts. I tried for 90 minutes (with varying results, as even the position of the amplifier matters) before removing the thing and trying the search without. I got 13 channels without the anplifier (as opposed to the 6-10 with), and I got PBS back.... I then tried to delicately insert the amplifier into this configuration to see whether the signal stayed firm, but it became all jittery, so I returned it.... I can't figure out why this happened, as I figured that the purpose of the amplifier is exactly that for which I was trying to use it, but that didn't seem to be the case. Your results, however, may differ....

The amplifier is really easy to use, and noticeably improved the signal and range of channels. Although like other users have said there's no LED Indicator to show when it's actually working, but the difference shows.

I have one of those flat wall/window mount antennas and stay in basement apartment so I only got about 6 channels. Now it's picks up about 11/12 all of them with great signal strength bar 2 channels.

I bought it with hope that it would strengthen incoming weak signal from the indoor flap antenna. It didn't. There was no difference in the picture quality between this amplifier added with power on or it is out of the circuit. I called RCA to ask for any advice to make it working. After listening to my problem, the agent suggested to return it for refund - she did not have any idea to improve its functioning. I did. Now it comes to my memory that a couple of years ago, I had bought an RCA antenna. It did not work; I returned it. I have two antenna now - one from Mohu with amplifier, and the other from Amazon without amplifier. The Amazon one works almost at par with the much more expensive Mohu antenna, but when I asked Amazon to send me an amplifier, they said that it was not for sale as a stand alone part - and that is why I had to go for that RCA amplifier.

I purchased an RCA flat indoor antenna. I am located in St. Catharines ON, and receive channels mostly from Buffalo and Toronto. For some of these channels, I have to re-aim the antenna. Since many of the signals are fairly weak, it can be quite finicky to tune in the channels. This amplifier helps with that. My aim does not need to be quite as precise, which makes tuning in channels easier. It shipped very fast. Price is not a screaming deal, but fair.
