Robert Walker tells a wonderful story and illuminates a part of history that's been hidden from us. This book tells the story of our Native American soldiers during the Civil War, the side they fought for and why, while making the characters come to life.
It's a time we need to remember.
In the book it is hard to really distinguish the history from the fiction, though one can guess by passages including dialogue being fictional. The historical material is often repeated and certain events are talked about out of order. There are no references or a bibliography listing the sources of the historical information. The book could also use a good editor and proof reader as there a many spelling errors.
