This reduces yield of shaded but the increased voltage provides for more hours of charging. On a camper it works for me. I have unlimited power and run an electric blanket off a sine wave inverter--very cozy.
I use a small amount of dielectric grease to fill any voids in these connectors and junctions.
Since I added pair of panels it was very easy for me to do this as I just un-clipped cables and added another junction pair. After pulling the main cable inside, the roof wiring was incredibly easy with these.
Be sure to mark the + side with red tape and it will work out very easy for you.
I used Renogy panels, wire, terminations and junctions. I'm confident these will out last me, and keep my batteries fresh and extend their live span. I will probably change my batteries long before they fail. I'm planning to switch to Lithium Batteries to save weight.
Finally, I'd consider using these types of connector for other high current DC wiring.
Although had to take it apart to replace one of my solar panels after about a week with it attached. and some of the plastic broke off so I have to replace it unfortunately. I also used dielectric grease, so they popped off pretty easily, so I don't know how the plastic surrounding the terminal was damaged.
So basically just bummed im spending double the price to connect my panels.
