- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2024Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseIve seen some decent negative reviews on this camera and not sure why? Perhaps lack of understanding or the software was under developed at the time?
Anyways, ive only had this cam for 1 day. Setup was a breeze, install the mobile app on your phone, create an account, scan QR code on the back of the camera to add your cam to your account and configure through the app. I think setup took about 10 mins at most.
The big pro i love about this cam is it’s versatility. You do not need a cloud subscription to use this cam, although it does appear Reolink offers a cloud subscription through the app under SIM services,if you wish.
You can purchase an SD card separately to install into the cam which i recommend as you will not be able to review past recordings/ events without one. You can still use without an SD card, but would only view live. This cam also supports FTP which is GREAT!! I have mine setup to store recordings on a NAS server on my home network AND store them direct to the SD card in the cam. This cam is also compatible with Google Assistant, i can view this cam from both my google assistants.
The included solar panel works very well. I installed this cam on a severe gray cloudy day and the panel still received enough UV rays through a dreary cloudy day to charge the cam back up to 100%.
I saw another reviewer complain about the clarity or ability to see a car’s license plate. Not sure why you would expect precision zoom on a camera that doesnt exactly offer or advertise that.
In any case this camera is perfect for my needs, gives me a birds eye view of my driveway. Also worth mentioning, once you pair your cam with the App, you can remote view your cam through Reolink when not at home. Tested this a few times by disconnecting my phone from my home network and was able to view the cam with no issues. Motion alerts are also on point and very sensitive.. still tweaking the sensitivity, this will notify you if a bird in its nest blinks. I loved this cam so much i purchased a 2nd one last night to monitor my backyard. I love the wide view you get, where as youd need at least 2 cams to get that kind of view.
**EDIT** After 1 month:
The camera is still good, but wanted to add something regarding the Solar Panel and after alot of googling... The Solar Panel that comes with this WILL NOT charge the camera if the temp falls below approx 35 degrees F even if the panel is in direct sunlight. Which is not terrible, you just need to make sure you are not accessing the camera all the time or motion is constantly setting it off to help prolong battery life between warmer sunnier days. Just an FYI for potential buyers. Still very satisfied with my purchase. Just wanted to give a heads up so you are not doing pointless troubleshooting.
5.0 out of 5 starsIve seen some decent negative reviews on this camera and not sure why? Perhaps lack of understanding or the software was under developed at the time?So far so good, Like this cam alot!!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2025Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseThe experience started with easy installation and setup. My solar panel faces SSE and keeps the unit charged everyday. Detection and classification of the motion type, along with sensitivity to motion are all very good. I monitor the driveway (3 car lengths) and front curb area. With the 180 degree angle, the peripheral view includes the front steps and entry/egress to side yard. Quick video reviews are good on the phone, but much better quality is available on the laptop application for zooming into specific objects of interest. I've had no problems with network connectivity for live viewing or video playback from the SD card in the unit. I installed the recommended card/size. My solar panel and camera are mounted, without issue, on siding using brackets and mounts designed for drill-free installation. Great solution
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2025Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseInstalled today. Cinder block/stucco house = makes it harder to mount camera. Mollies and screws provided = too small & cheap. Had to modify own mollies and grind down own screw heads to fit mounting bracket back. Hard to get a solid grip on ball swivel in mounting bracket to set and hold camera angle. Camera is well made with quality materials. The included solar panel was easy to set up/install; plenty of cable for power to camera. It too is well made. Instructions for camera/mobile connection are OK but not great. How to use the app instructions are no better than Apple instructions. More to come when I've used it for a while. Update for 1/27/25: Ran into Reolink registration web site issues. Submitted ticket. Customer Service rep's answer was the most comprehensive and professional I've ever seen PLUS he actually took action! A rare thing these days. Today Reolink also responded to my initial product review on Amazon and made things right between us. Their Customer Service Team is, honestly, superb! UPDATE FOR 02/10/25: The solar panel stopped charging the camera. Being replaced under warranty after having to verify the problem and try their suggestions for a fix. I'd now give this camera, solar panel and all mounting hardware a -1. The Customer Service Team still gets a 5 ! FINAL UPDATE 02/15/25: The camera just quit responding to the app. Customer Service Team sending a replacement. They are good. This camera is not.

GaryReviewed in Australia on February 9, 20255.0 out of 5 stars Awesome camera with one issue.
Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseVery good camera. Good image day and night. WiFi works well and so does the solar panel. I've only used it for cloud time lapses so can't speak to the PIR sensors or motion/smart detection etc. One issue which others have is that if you have a bright light source on one lens then it can't compensate for just that lens.
LJReviewed in Canada on October 12, 20244.0 out of 5 stars Great for Warm Climates, but Not for Canadian Winters
In a Nutshell: The Reolink Argus 4 Pro is one of the best solar-powered cameras on the market, with an impressive feature set and performance that make it a top contender in a crowded field. I’ve tested dozens of security cameras, and the Argus 4 Pro represents a leap forward in many ways, particularly when paired with Reolink’s polished, intuitive, and feature-rich app. Reolink has been in the market for years, and their latest offering highlights how far they’ve come, delivering a compelling combination of hardware and software. However, the camera has two notable limitations. First, while the 180° horizontal coverage is great, the vertical coverage is limited to only 50°, which may create a significant blind spot under the camera depending on how it’s installed. The second issue pertains to cold climates. This battery-powered solar Wi-Fi camera has a clear limitation: the manual warns against charging the camera in conditions below 0°C, making it unsuitable for Canadian winters. That said, most (if not all) battery-operated Wi-Fi cameras suffer from similar issues, whether or not it's explicitly mentioned in their manuals—most battery technologies do not perform well in sub-zero temperatures. Reolink deserves credit for being upfront about this in the manual, while others may not, but it’s not a limitation clearly spelled out in the product description. However, if you’re looking for reliable coverage in sub-zero temperatures, battery-operated cameras may not be the best option. Despite these limitations, this is one of the best Wi-Fi solar cameras I’ve tested in this price segment.
Pros:
- 180° 4K coverage: Dual 2K lenses seamlessly stitch together to create a 180-degree field of view in 4K resolution. This eliminates the need for panning or tilting, making it easier to monitor wide areas. The resolution (5120x1440) is fantastic.
- Wi-Fi 6 and dual-band connection: Supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, ensuring strong, fast connections for high-resolution video streaming.
- Night vision: The F/1.0 aperture and ColorX technology deliver excellent color video even in low-light conditions, improving nighttime security.
- No subscription needed: Offers microSD storage (up to 128GB) and integrates with Home Hub for local storage. On-device AI features like smart detection and motion zones mean no monthly fees.
- Efficient solar power: The included 6W solar panel can fully charge the camera in 4 hours of direct sunlight or offer a quick boost in 10 minutes. The 5000mAh battery is rechargeable and lasts well.
- Two-way audio and spotlight: While the speaker is somewhat quiet (as with most cameras), the audio feature is useful for basic communication. Three spotlights add flexibility for nighttime visibility when needed.
- Easy setup: Reolink’s app makes setup simple, fast, and reliable.
- Mounting: Comes with a solid plastic/metal mount and a strap for mounting to a tree or pole.
Cons:
- Limited vertical coverage: While the camera’s horizontal coverage is a wide 180°, the vertical range is only 50°, which can create a potential blind spot below the camera depending on its installation.
- Not winter-friendly: The major downside is its inability to function reliably in sub-zero temperatures. The manual clearly states that the camera’s battery should not be charged below 0°C, making it unsuitable for outdoor use in most Canadian winters. This is a significant limitation for anyone living in colder climates. However, this limitation applies to most lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery-powered solar cameras, regardless of whether the manual states it. Lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries do not perform well in colder conditions, especially when charging, compared to some other battery technologies (e.g., lithium-titanate, nickel-metal hydride, etc.). While I haven’t tested this camera in sub-zero temperatures yet, my past experience with similar cameras suggests they typically function down to -10°C, but beyond that point, they become unreliable, and exposure to such temperatures can degrade the batteries over time.
Final Thoughts:
If you live in a warm climate, the Argus 4 Pro is an exceptional camera with polished software, excellent 4K video, reliable motion detection, and no need for a subscription. The solar panel works efficiently, and the dual-band Wi-Fi 6 provides smooth, high-resolution streaming when reviewing footage. However, for those in colder regions like Canada, the charging limitation below 0°C may be a dealbreaker (though it’s worth noting that this issue applies to most battery-powered cameras). While it performs well in many areas, this Achilles’ heel makes it hard to recommend for use in climates where winters dip below freezing.

SamReviewed in Australia on January 15, 20251.0 out of 5 stars app issue could not connect
Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseNice camera just a shame it did not live up to the reviews out there
It was unusable due to not being able to connect to either mobile or wifi and i tried two phones lost 2 days playing around and talking with support before finally returning it
It appears this connection issue is a major problem for others out there to.
No point having a great camera with night colour vision if the software renders the thing unusable.
About the only positive i can find out of all of this is Amazons return policy
Very good thank you Amazon
