PRO: Great price; highly effective.
CON: It rusts very easily; once it is wet, it will immediately leave rust residue on whatever surface you place it. If you are trying to push fecal matter through the pipes, it will get caught up in the metal coil. You'll have to hose it down and pick the junk out.
Overall, I am satisfied; and I highly recommend this auger. Each time I use it, I am saving a $60+ visit from the plumber!
I paid $80 last year for a plumber to come out and unclog whatever was stopping up my toilet. Nothing was thrown down there like a toy or whatever and it cleared easily and the plumber used a device just like this one....so I purchased my own.
It worked when I used it to unclog the toilet again and again no idea what caused the toilet not to flush but to rise up.
However, I do not like using this or even a plunger even if wearing shoulder length rubber gloves and a mask over my face and having to find a place in my garage for the now nasty tool... so when my toilet refused to flush again and instead the water rose up (not sure what is causing this when had zero problems before) I googled around for an alternative unclogging method and found it. The Youtube video said to pour dish detergent into the toilet (they used Palmolive but I used Dawn) into the toilet and then pour in hot water and wait. The water went down to the very bottom of the toilet after a couple of hours and rather than flush it then and risk it coming up, I repeated pouring Dawn dish detergent into the toilet and pouring hot (to touch) water into the toilet and let it sit overnight. The toilet flushed fine after that. The video said not to use boiling water or the ceramic toilet might crack. I didn't even use a plunger and this method worked great. I don't regret buying this toilet auger because it will come in handy if the dish detergent method does not work
Was scared it wouldn't work. I placed in the first 3 feet and nothing. My clogged was in deeper so I placed the full 6 feet in and as I tried pulling it back out it got stuck. I was scared I would have to call a plumber and have them remove it from the toilet, but after some tilting in the right direction and using some light force it started coming out along with the all the paper towels my friend flushed down. Toilet went back to flushing normally.
Would definitely buy again. Just make sure to read the instructions and watch the video. Definitely saved me an expensive bill.
