River Steel is a Rock God; mesmerizing looks and talent, he can have any woman he wants. There's a vast line in the wings waiting for their chosen moment. Seeing him personally, he's fire and ice. No emotion given. On stage he is the air every woman breaths.
Layla is a broken woman. The first man she fell in love with cheated on her with not one, but two women and completely broke her heart when shattering her entire world. A photographer by trade, and no longer able to trust, she has become a recluse and only surrounds herself with the serenity of landscapes now. Until her best friend gets hurt and needs her to fill in on an assignment taking pictures of the Rock group "Steel".
Fate interferes that night when the two lay eyes on each other. It's palpable to everyone who sees the photos she's taken of the band members.
Told by Layla's point of view, follow them as they go through so many changes and see where this will lead. An absolute must read.
Instantly she felt a pull to River and supposedly he did too, I just couldn't buy it. After there first encounter he barely talks to her barely even acknowledges her presence. After a crazy ex of his attacks her she reaches out to her but, even then is very hot and cold to her until he turns glacier.
I just couldn't understand her obsession and the fact that she was practically in love with him (even though this was never mentioned) without him even speaking more than 5 sentences to her. He kept pushing her away and she just kept coming back for more. It was extremely annoying!!!! She finally grew somewhat of a backbone but, still was so needy.
I wish I got more from River, he wasn't really present even though he was the male lead in the book. With all that said I will read part 2 hoping it gets better and there's more of River in it.
I really hated how weak & needy Layla was. I can't stand a weak heroine and she was just the worst!! I mean she cried about every 3-4 pages and over everything. If she was real I'd probably slap the piss out of her!!!!! And the only thing I can say about River was he was really moody and was equally annoying to me, Layla was just a game at times to him.
I was gifted a copy of this book for a honest review
I decided I would not rate the book by the whole book but by the last chapter. If I would of rated it by the whole book it would of been a 3 star and I just do not like to see 3 star reviews. I did not like the main female character, Layla in the story. I love strong female characters in a story and I dis not get that in this story. I found her weak and she was crying all the time. It was not until the last chapter that I saw a little of backbone and strength in her. I am hoping in book 2 I will see more of strong female character I desire.
The main male character, River is a rockstar. He is ever thing I would expect from a rockstar. His personality is hot one minute and cold the next. it was like flipping a switch with him. I felt he was playing some sore of game with Layla. But like I said that is what I would expect from a rockstar. I do like the fact that he appeared protective of her and went above and beyond just to be in her presence. I truly feel he had feelings for her.
I did not like Layla’s best friend Nora. I feel best friends should be supportive and I did not get that impression with Nora. Nora was a little hypocritical. She wanted to judge Layla about her life choses when it came to River when Nora was dating someone that was not any better in my eyes.
I do have plan reading book 2 in this series. I am hoping that book 2 will be more fast pace, have more sex *snicker*, and I see some change in the characters.
