But nothing went according to plan. In one night, Violet crawled under my skin and into my bloodstream. She tattooed her name across my chest and between my legs. She became my muse. And then she was gone. Now, months later, here she is again. And in a twist I never saw coming, it turns out Violet is ultra-violet radiation. Beautiful, ethereal light bringing with her the promise of damage and destruction.
My brain tells me to walk away from this girl, but my heart can’t stop feeling like she might be one of a kind . . . the sort of girl who comes along once in a violet moon.

NOTE: The Morgan Brothers are a series of five interconnected standalones. Recommended reading order is to start with HERO or CAPTAIN, as book 1, despite series numbering, because both books run on same timeline, alongside each other, and their events happen first in chronology. However, if you do not mind skipping around in time a bit, you can start with any of the Morgan Brothers books, despite series numbering, and fully enjoy it!

Lauren Rowe sucked me into the tornado named Rockstar and I can't describe the feelings with words. My mind is a beautiful mess of emotions. Lauren Rowe has only been on my radar since I read Hero in early 2018 and with every new book I get my hands on by this author I am blown away—totally, completely mind blown for one reason or another—and so sooooo in love with her words!!! Rockstar was no different. This book was outstanding. I have long awaited Dax Morgan’s book, and that wait was not in vain. Lauren delivered a beautiful romance that had all the characteristics I have come to expect from her: laughter, an irresistible hero, an epic story, swoon-worthy moments that take my breath away, sexy times that leave me in much need of a cold shower… aww, but that list just goes on and on…. Needless to say, RockStar is absolutely a five-star read, and waiting to pick up this book is just a discredit to those of us who have screamed from the rooftops of our love for Lauren’s words!!!
Q: “I don’t get butterflies when you laugh.” He touches my thigh. “I get fireflies. I feel lit up from deep inside.”
While I could go into many reasons why I loved RockStar so dang much it really boils down to a few things. The characters and the very beauty of Lauren Rowe's storytelling talents. The characters bred a connection that I have found with few authors. Yet I feel like it’s a standard with Lauren’s books that I have had the pleasure of reading. It’s hard not to feel a connection to these particular stories as all of the Morgan Brother’s books have won my heart and been five star reads for this avid book lover. While each book is a standalone, they all have one commonality, The Morgan Family—hints the series name. 😉 And while each story within the series are all characteristically unique, they ultimately bring me back to the heart and soul of romance—the personal connections that exist when we allow ourselves to love freely and openly. Lauren begins with a family that loves the way a family is supposed to love—a close-knit family that gives room for each of the members to be individuals. Then, Lauren writes characters that you fall helplessly in love with because they aren’t perfect and each and every story in the Morgan Brother’s series offers a romance that is without question 1000% unique from any romance I have read before… each book to date has offered readers a different trope with various degrees of angst that only heighten the story she tells. I have found them to each be largely unpredictable and I love when I am reading a book and not guessing what’s about to happen… When I can simply get lost in the story.
Q: …we were magic together! Being with Dax felt like clicking a last jigsaw puzzle piece into place.
While the Morgan’s are the draw to this particular series, it’s ultimately the writer’s storytelling that makes the connection and deliveries the unforgettable romance inherent in her books. And it’s undebatable that there is something incredible that takes place when an author writes book after book and each book meets with the same overwhelming love within our hearts. That’s how I have felt each time I’ve picked up one of these books over the last year. And if you are reading my review looking for something negative regarding Lauren’s work, then you’re following the wrong blogger. In addition to loving the family dynamics, I feel like Lauren tells the absolute best story for the individuals that she can. Their stories are unique, and they all play their parts in captivating our hearts in different for a variety of reasons. Dax’s story happened to bring this rockstar romance junky both the bitter and the sweet aspects of rockstar lifestyle. Yet, she still made the romance the focus and I loved leaving reality behind for this slice of heaven that straddled both reality and fiction.
Q: My heart is exploding, my skin is on fire, my eyes feel magnetically pulled to her. And, most of all, my belly is alive with flapping wings and glowing lights that only this woman, and no other, ignites inside me.
RockStar is without a doubt one of my most anticipated reads this year and will stand up as one of my favorite reads as well. It sucked me straight into the story and held me with a consistent pace. Dax Morgan, like his brothers, stole my heart when I read Hero. I wanted to know more about the baby of the Morgan family, and I can’t tell you how fulfilling this story was. The story was funny, super sexy, angsty—I swore that Dax was never going to get the girl… only he did and wow, it was spectacular—but it was also a deeply satisfying romance. The book gave us so much depth into Dax’s character and how touring with his band—and without the one person he wants more than anything else—helps him grow and ultimately hurts him. This story brings readers right back into the Morgan Family fold with all the fun, emotional and unique moments that comes only from being part of this family. RockStar also introduces readers to Violet—Vi—the heroine that wins over Dax. That inspires him and brings him low without even knowing how completely she’s captivated Dax.
Q: She set me free to fully experience whatever’s coming my way, without guilt or trepidation.
RockStar is in many ways a second chance romance and provides all the angst of unrequited love, or as far as our hero and heroine are concerned, that’s what the ‘one that got away’ represented at the time. Luckily for those of use reading the dual POV story, we know differently, but the angst it presents for the characters is fantastic and made me consume chapter after chapter and before I knew it the night had passed into morning. After I consumed mass quantities of coffee, I wanted nothing more than to dive right back into this story… ultimately family, and blogging, kept me from doing so. But it’s one of those books that I will reread again and again because I truly loved it. Reading a book more than once is always a sign of an excellent story in my book. And over the last year, I have reread each book within my library by Lauren Rowe. I can't recommend an author more... Buy RockStar and find out why I love her the way I do... Discover the Morgan family for yourself!
Q: “Music. It’s everything to me. When I’m writing a song and it’s flowing, that’s like a hand job for my soul. When it’s finished and I get to play it for the first time from beginning to end, that’s the blow job. When I play it for someone else for the first time, that’s .... And when I perform it for a whole club full of people...” I shudder. “Oh, baby, that’s the orgasm.”
And I was right. This one is a doozy. The cover got me like *whoa* but the actual music the author included of the songs only got me like *meh* even though it was a really cool idea to include them and I'm sure it was a ton of extra work. They just didn't come across as ROCK songs to me, but they do seem to fit Dax's more down to earth, introverted, tortured artist character sound. Which is an odd juxtaposition.
As far as the plot, I REALLY loved the twists and turns this one had! I swear I thought I had it all figured out in the first few chapters so the surprise that came later was almost heart wrenching! Dax's torment over his loyalty to his friend was hard to witness and *almost* overdone. IMHO it wasn't really sold that Caleb actually wanted to be in a committed relationship and he kind of drops off the story, with no real closure. Which is kind of annoying as far as fiction goes but that's more of what happens in real life so. *Shrug*
Overall, I loved this story and was so glad to see so many familiar characters again. I believe this is the first series I've read by this author so now I'm ready to gobble up the rest of her work. Off to Google all her titles (and also if The Sure Thing is a real thing...)!
I know that 10 stars aren’t an option, but I’m telling you it should be when I’ve read something that is as EPIC as Rockstar by Ms. Rowe. I originally discovered Ms. Rowe’s writing about three years ago so I was a little late to the party, but once I read my first book, which was actually her eighth book published, I immediately did a binge read AND listen of all available books and have been following, really stalking her since the day I finished my first book.
I’ve come to love the entire Morgan Mafia and to have their series end with the writing of Daxy’s book is so fabulous but also makes me a little sad, because there’s no more Morgan’s…boo!!! So let’s get into the nitty gritty of why this is a 10 star read….Dax and Violet are two people that meet and have an immediate connection that neither can deny…
“As my tongue dances with Violet’s as my lips assault hers, it’s the Fourth of July inside my body. I put my palm on Violet’s face as our kiss deepens and intensifies, every fiber of my body hungry for her…Violet kisses me back with same frenzied need, like her next breath depends on this electrifying kiss.”
While this connection can’t be denied, Daxy and his band 22 Goats are getting ready to leave for an extended world tour which isn’t really conducive to starting a relationship, and there’s the little wrench that Violet is hiding a pretty big detail about her life that could truly hinder 22 Goats’ future in the recording industry. So they part ways with the promise of when they return to see where their feelings are…and so begins the wild ride of 22 Goats, Daxy and Violet!!
Needless to say when they see each other again, the feelings are not only still there but oh my stars, so many secrets that are being kept and hidden so it’s not an easy path for our H/h.
“I’m enraptured, utterly enthralled. Feeling like I’ve been on life support for eight months, and suddenly springing to full health. I thought I remembered what it felt like to kiss this beautiful boy, but I was wrong. The pleasure I’m feeling, the riot of emotion and arousal and need flashing across my heart and soul and nerve endings and skin… all of it so much more than fireflies in my belly.
It’s an electrical storm – an explosion of heat and lightning of lust and sense memory and hope, enough to power a sky full of stars and send my aching heart beating fully, joyfully once again.”
There’s not only secrets but people that may stand in their way. Who’s not standing in their way is the entire Morgan family, which includes extended family and friends that are like family. We get to experience all the humor and love that I adore with the Morgan Mafia as they’re all in rare form in this book.
As this story moves, at just the right pace, I fell more and more in love with Dax and Violet. They’re beautiful people on the inside and outside. The love they have is unending. Their families support them in whatever they desire and they love giving back to people. Violet is an amazing young woman that brought me to tears a few times with some of her actions. But what I loved the most is how they each love each other. They’ve found that magic that people only hope for when they fall in love. Mix that with humor that at times is snarky and sassy and it’s a complete and total win.
Ms. Rowe has written a book that fulfilled all my fantasies and desires for the wrap-up of the Morgan family books along with making Daxy and Violet one of my very favorite book couples….although all the Morgan kids and their spouses are my favorites too… I’m not sure I would be able to pick a top favorite cuz they’re all just that amazing. While I’m sad this series has come to an end, I’m thrilled with how we got there and that we’re leaving this world in an EPIC way!!!

Dax Morgan is on the cusp of superstardom, his band 22 goats are about to spend 8 months on the road as the opening act of an established rock group. The last thing a young man needs is to meet the woman of his dreams at a party. Fate, laughs in his face and Violet appears like magic in his sights.
A supposedly one night stand reveals a soul deep connection but absolutely terrible timing. Violet and Dax reluctantly say a bittersweet goodbye, with the possibility of reconnecting after the tour.
Dax takes advantage of being a young man on tour with all the craziness that typically entails. All the while thinking of Violet and writing songs about her and their brief but significant time together.
Violet for her part, dates and tries to move on as best she can.
Fast forward and Dax reunites with Violet. A huge range of complications and hideous coincidences ensure the two start seeing each other secretly.
Problem is true love shouldn't be secret and hurt feelings can lead to splits.
Luckily, Dax isn't a fool or a coward, he sets out to win Vi over. Cue all the swoons and heart emotions 😍😍😍💕💕💕
This is such a fun, sweet love story. Despite the relatively young age of this pair, I believed every part of their emotional, scorching connection. I was here for all the revelations and declarations from both Dax and Violet.
Lauren Rowe has written another smash hit. I eagerly await whatever she decides to write next. Just fantastic.

This book has just knocked my socks off !
Dax friggin Morgan baby !!! I’ve been intrigued by Dax since my love of Lauren and her words started ! He’s just held something for me, it helps I adore the Rockstar sub genre, but Dax is like no other ! His extrovert / introvert persona is just dynamite and with Lauren as his guiding pen across the page we got one hell of a story as perfect as Lauren could deliver !
I’m not giving anything away, no spoilers from me ! But be prepared to fall in love, swoon and become enamoured by the sensitivity and beautiful soul that is Dax Morgan !
Not only that but you get to meet Violet, she’s just perfect in every way, and oh boy is she just a perfect flower that blooms in the light of family and love as only the Morgan’s can help deliver !
There were moments of Joy, moments of laughter and heartfelt moments between family and friends that make you feel like you found a place to call home !
Lauren’s words Truly FLOWED of the page with all her heart and soul. It’s a book I devoured and purposely closed 10% from the end because I didn’t want it to end ! But when it did I was left with a smile on my face and a warmth in my heart ! For all that is the Morgan’s ! Dax is beautiful !
5 beautiful free flowing Stars
Dx
PS. It’s a Stand-alone meaning you can read this book without reading any others or if you’ve never read Lauren before you could start right here x

If your looking for an escape from your reality, a love-story with twists and turns, something that will mess with your emotions and leave you feeling gutted it's ended but darn happy inside then this is for you!! One last thing - you darn right enjoy it!
