Designed to Stop the Swirl
The Bosch ROS20VSK was built with an integral pad-dampening braking system, which was engineered to reduce swirl marks, which is the No. 1 complaint of random orbit sander users. The random orbit sander/polisher also comes equipped with Bosch’s signature HookTight hook-and-loop disc attachment. Over 35,000 long-life hooks on this attachment help to secure firm grip of the disc during use. Additionally, the included microcellular backing pad ensures a smooth, fine finish on both flat and contoured surfaces alike.
More Control with Variable Speed
This random orbit sander/polisher includes variable-speed control, so users can demand the exactly right speed for each individual task. The speed is adjustable from between 7,500 and 12,000 opm, with a single speed of 12,000 opm, so operators can dial up or down. The orbit diameter is 3/64-inch, and the tool weighs in at only 3.5 pounds, furnishing remarkable sanding effectiveness in a tool that is straightforward and easy to deal with.
Microfilter Dust System
This tool has a built-in microfilter system that traps dust particles as small as 1/2 micron in diameter. The microfilter dust canister curtails dust spillback into the sander. This ensures that users aren’t breathing in too much dust on the job. The compact dust canister simply twists off, making the dust level visible and incredibly easy to detach when necessary. The sander is compatible with standard 1-1/4-inch and 1-1/2-inch vacuum hoses or any Bosch vacuum cleaner hose. It also features a dust-sealed switch.
Comfort Comes First
With an ergonomic soft-grip top and body, the Bosch ROS20VSK allows the operator to use the tool with varied grip positions, to reduce hand fatigue. It features Bosch's constant response circuitry, which provides a smoother experience by producing constant speed under load. This also helps this solidly built tool generate a low-vibration operation that helps promote user comfort for more extended periods of use.

I bought the ROS20VSK for $69.97 +tax at a big box retailer. I used the 1295DVS several months ago and now this one for a few weeks. They are very similar in performance. Same smooth start-up and great motion yet relatively low vibration and easy to control. Same vigorous removal of material but with a very even, smooth pattern. I'd like to see a side by side performance test of the ROS20VS and the 1295DVS because their internals are somewhat different, the most significant of which is the ROS20VS's less powerful motor.
The visible differences in this model are the features that were the biggest complaints from reviews of the 1295DVS. Bosch seems to have been listening: dust collection, sanding pad durability and ergonomics are all improved.
Ergonomics - The top has been given more form and elongated, similar to other random orbitals, but Bosch has made it's "tail" a bit more substantial than most. I thought it might get in the way and make it clunky but it doesn't. The shape allows for solid two handed sanding if needed and many other secure & comfortable hand holds. The variable speed dial has been moved to the back so there is no chance of accidentally adjusting it. Molded rubber has been added to all the right places for hands. There is even a small patch of rubber in the back above the dust port that is prefect extra grip for an index finger or thumb.Read more ›
I have tried a more expensive Makita which had more power. It removed material more quickly when coarse sanding but I prefer the all-around finishing properties of this Bosch. It's a good value.
The sander has several hours of continuous use, which isn't nearly enough to judge it's reliability. That said, after hours of sanding with this, my hands don't feel numb from the vibration, and my hands are about as unused to this type of labor as you're going to get.
This gadget saved me days of labor. Worth my money. Hopefully in the long run it lives up to the rest of the glowing reviews.
Probably a dozen more hours sanding the glue off the walls of the adjoining room. Previously, we figured the only option was to re-drywall this room, as no amount of scraping or scrubbing or chemicals were making any difference to whatever glue they had used.
So I moved to 60 grit paper.
The dust filter is worth it's weight in gold; it catches the majority of whatever I was sanding off the walls. My hands are large (3XL?), so my pinky fingers got a little heat from the exhaust vent on the side of the tool, but no amount of leaning on this thing - for hours - caused it to have the least bit of problems.
Heavy grit sanding discs - like the 60 grit - seem to give up on the velcro side long, long, long before the abrasive side is done. I'm guessing that's the paper I went with, as a new disc sticks to the tool like glue.Read more ›

Takes a bit of getting used to. I find I do use the variable speed. The dust catcher is very good, but needs to be emptied frequently.Published 8 days ago by Amazon Customer

It sands wood and does it fairly quickly. It doesn't leave annoying marks. Dust collection isn't great, but that's really my only complaint.Published 19 days ago by John
Works as advertised; what I want and expected. Dust collection is reasonably good with a shop vac (important for a sander.)Published 29 days ago by T.G.M.
Awesome. I can't believe I've been hand sanding like a chump. I just redid my daughters room prior to purchasing this. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Jason A.
