If you are tired of the flimsy, plastic, sony headphones, well you have other choices. For dj's who use their headphones often, the Technic/Panasonic RP-DH1200 is the answer. The sound quality is very comparable to the sony vj 700's, and arguably better (particularly in its bass response). But what makes these headphones a great deal is that the cord is replaceable and so are the chushion pads on the headphones. I will warn you though that the headphones are slightly more heavy on the head than the sony ones, but for me it hasn't been that noticeable to me. Anyways, good luck in your search.

I'm into quality, and that's what you will get from these Technics headphones. I'm not a DJ, but I know these headphones work great for home listening. The volume can be turned up without any distortion at all. You may even want to record your mp3s at higher bitrates because you will be able to hear the difference between 128 and 256. The headphones are very well designed and comfortable. I find it hard to stop listening to them because I like them so much. The coiled cord stays out of the way. These headphones may be a little too bulky to wear walking down the street, but they are well worth their price. They also block out many ouside noises and other people in the room cannot hear the music you play at normal levels. This product will truly provide a new listening experience.

First impressions: Japanese quality; obviously well-made. Panasonic/Technics knows that "Made In Japan" means something to those discriminating few. The cost/benefit ratio makes this product a top choice for DJing, music production, studio monitoring, and audiophile listening. The world's number one trance DJ, AVB, uses this model as one of his preferred cans. That tells a lot about the product.

With regards to the seller, Crawford's Superstore sold me the first and second orders of this product (total of 3 headphones purchased). The first time was an excellent experience. The second was the worst of all my Amazon shopping experiences. Crawford's Superstore gambled with their reputation and delivered 2 used/abused (ear pads worn out, hair and wood chips in the ear cups, missing parts and accessories) products against the advertised brand new condition. They underestimated the power of repeat business, and it not only cost them the return/exchange of the merchandise, but also their reputation as a consistently reliable vendor. All the signs of deliberate mishandling of the second order were apparent.

Update: Crawford's resolved their mistake and delivered in SATISFACTORY (not excellent) condition this time, at the cost of delayed delivery against the original, promised delivery date. To remedy the inconvenience, new 1200s were delivered via their Amazon connection, Mel Ray Group of North Las Vegas. The delivery box arrived via USPS, but was sent out initially via FedEx. The condition upon arrival was acceptable, but not in excellent shape. The delivery box appeared somewhat crushed on one side, subjecting the contents to the rigors of mechanized package transportation.

This is my first pair of decent headphones for bedroom djing. So far the sound seems to be pretty good, but I don't find them too comfortable. Granted I can't compare these to other similar headphones. Also, I think comfort is very relative, depending on the shape of your head, whether you wear glasses (I do) and other factors. That said, I find that I can't wear these headphones for too long without my ears, neck, and top of my head feeling uncomfortable. For novices like myself in the market for headphones, I would strongly recommend trying them on (and using them for an extended period, if possible) before buying them.

The thing that attracted me to this headphone was that the cord looks sturdy and is replaceable. Most headphones, even disk jockey headphones, have those dainty cords that look like they'd snap if the slightest amount of pull is applied. I hark back to the days when DJs' headphones had coiled cords as thick as the old telephones at that time. I need ones that will hold the weight of the phones if accidentally dropped. The thin, straight wires of other phones also get all tangled up into everything. This unit handles that much better.

I gave this 4 stars, however, because of the articulating feature. The description says the phones, "can easily fold into multiple configurations for standard use, one-sided monitoring and storage." Well, they certainly do! The problem I've had is that they are so articulate, I sometimes have difficulty simply putting them on my head without them trying to fold up, turn sideways, accommodate two listeners, etc. Not quite the entertainment I had planned for my audience. But otherwise, they are very good headphones.

UPDATE 11/25/12: I got so tired of the articulating feature of these headphones that I sold them on eBay. They're still good phones - just not for me.

This is the second pair of these headphones that I've purchased. The first was for my oldest son, who DJs on the side. That was two years ago. He said that even though they are two years old - and he uses them ALL THE TIME - they are just like when he took them out of the box. These headphones have played many, many parties and bars. I purchased set number 2 for another son who likes to mess around with DJ stuff too. Highly recommended.
