This is the game RPG Maker for the Playstation 1. This game may not come with the original case and instructions. We stand by our products and offer a 60 day guarantee. If a game does not work within 60 days from the time you receive it we will gladly exchange it for you.
Ever want to try your hand at making games? Now Agetec has delivered a timeless masterpiece that will help many gamers fulfill their dream of constructing a video game--albeit a role-playing game--from scratch.
With RPG Maker for the PlayStation, would-be game designers can finally create their own digital world. All you need is a PlayStation, a little imagination, a lot of time, and you can create your own Final Fantasy, Ogre Battle, or Dragon Warrior adventure--sort of. It takes teams of 50 to 100 people two to three years to design and create the RPGs that we play today. If you think you've got the patience to do it on your own, then this game (or should we say set of tools) has a lot to offer.
Write, design, and control everything from the story line to dungeon designs, to organizing and constructing the towns in your game. You can even choose item locations, weapons, and enemy hit-point totals. Such standard, modern-day RPG elements are all at your disposal here. For those who really want to go for all the gusto, you can design and animate your own characters from scratch! The animation quality doesn't approach a Disney level, but at least the option is there.
This isn't a plug-and-play type of title; it will take you quite some time just to figure out where you want to start. If you don't have the patience to play a traditional RPG to the finish, then you might want to pass on RPG Maker. For everyone else, there's no better place to start! --Todd Mowatt

Let me say this right off the bat. You will need a lot of time to make a game with RPG maker. That means you will nead about 1-2 months if you hope to create a game. But that does not involve the time neaded to understand how to use this thing. From the minute you boot it up. You will scratch your head raw in a effort to understand how to use RPG Maker. I spent who knows how many hours trying to figure out how to make levels, make spells, items etc. At one point I was so deppressed I gave up and did another game.
1 month after I got RPG Maker I Botted it up again and gave it another go. And low and behold, somehow everything fit togeather! At long last I finially understood everything, "so that s how the event thingy works, so thats how the monster edit goes!" were thoughts that flashed through my mind. I set to work making my very first game, Quest for Atlantis. 1 1/2 months later I finially finished it. It took aproximatly 2 hours per day, for 1 1/2 months to make a 1 hour game. But it has been worth it. It is impossible, to say in words, the thrill you get when you finially play your finished game for the first time. A game that YOU made. Music, levels, charachters were all made by YOU. I have also a tidbit of advice for you. DONT LOSE THE 2 MANUALS!! they will prove invaluble in the future. But they cant be good all the time. For instance I was trying to find a ship, one that I had made in the items section and I couldent find it. The manual only said when the logo for it was displayed. I finially found it by going to sample dungeon and going under "Other" but I am still trying to find the blimp. Where are you you stupid Blimp? Also forget about using the animie maker. Its impossible to use. RPG Maker is incredibly frustrating at first, But goes above and beyond the call of duty to reward those who stick with it.
The good: you can make your own games! need I say more? Infinate replay value
the bad: hard to use. Manuals can be superficial
And the ugly: Incredibly hard to get the hang of.
Four stars because it's a little too addictive.
It's an amazing idea for a game, and it's totally worth buying. The game gives you a LOT to work with, and it's definitely the best of the console RPG Maker games. Unfortunately, the game is only meant to make a 15 to 30 minute game. You can make a longer game if you want to, but you'll probably need to use multiple memory cards if you do that.
I used this game to create a funny and ridiculous RPG called ''Goofy Monsters'' which I just beat, and I had a lot of fun with it.
The game can be tiresome sometimes, but that's why you need to take breaks when you play it, and try not to make the game too complicated. Also, time FLIES by when you're playing this game.
All in all, very fun game. I highly recommend it.
It's even possible to create your own sprites with the Anime Maker tool, although it's not even worth bothering if you don't have a mouse; there's no support for analog sticks, and the D-pad is not fun to draw with. With the amount of text you have to enter in with the on-screen keyboard, however, it's a shame the game doesn't work with any kind of keyboard.
Overall, if you can find this game, it's worth your money. One precaution: the game does not autosave ANYTHING, so you have to be careful not to overwrite any system or scenario data. Also, it's a shame there's no way to distribute your games aside from copying the data onto multiple memory cards and buying multiple copies of the game.
