Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Wholeheartedly endorsed by the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association as part of its centennial celebration, Cooper's collection of over 100 road-friendly recipes will give fellow enthusiasts plenty to chew on before packing their coolers. Those expecting culinary fireworks will be disappointed with these can-opening classics, such as a tortilla soup that consists of canned beans, broth, and corn, a jar of salsa, and grated cheddar cheese, or Breakfast Hamburger Helper, essentially a transcription of the recipe from the back of the box. So will those trying to stick to healthy diets-an entire large box of Velveeta cheese goes into Cooper's Incredibly Fattening Macaroni Casserole and even Grilled Cabbage calls for an entire stick of margarine stuffed into the vegetable's heart before it goes on the grill-but avid campers and RV-ers will appreciate the portability and economy of most ingredients. Rounded out with suggestions for games to keep the kids busy, RV trivia, and maintenance tips, Cooper gives campers plenty of options that come together quickly and travel well.

I just received this book today in the mail and immediately opened it and started reading all the recipes, contributor comments and tips. I was so excited at how well it was put together and easy to find different things, I started marking recipes with post-it flags so I can try all the recipes this summer at the campground we will be managing. I can't wait to order the cookbook for our RVing friends as gifts. I recommend this to anyone who likes to cook and try new recipes, not just RVers.

I have read this cookbook cover to cover. Great recipes and tips in it. It is well put together and illistrations are fun. I enjoyed reading about everyone who contributed to the book. Everything you have on hand and nothing special to buy. Just for fun I am starting at the front and working my way to the back. All recipes sound wonderful and I do want to try them all. This would make a great gift for anyone who RV's or who is a cookbook collector. I will be taking some recipes to potluck dinners too.

Having an RV, thought this would be good to add to my collection. I found some of the history interesting, but not a lot of the recipes were my style. I loaned it to a friend (another RVer) and her comments were the same.

I was disappointed by the incompleteness of this cookbook. We have a pop up and have no access to an oven and nearly half (if not more) of then require an oven. I would have liked to have seen more campfire, crockpot, microwave and stovetop recipes. I also wasn't happy with the number of breakfast recipes in it (3?!? Really??). Many recipes require many ingredients that I either can't store in my tiny fridge or wouldn't normally pack (like many spices). I think I was expecting more canned ingredients too. I found some of the instructions to the recipes hard to follow and didn't really explain how to serve it, and with zero pictures of finished recipes it's difficult to decipher what exactly it is I'm making. The apple enchiladas and cherry cobbler crockpot recipe was delicious though. I would say this is more appropriate for seasonal campers who have full travel trailers or motorhomes. I gave this as a gift as well as bought one for myself, I'm honestly a little embarrassed! I'll update when I make a few more recipes.

What a wonderful tribute to encapsulate America's favorite pasttime- the great outdoors - and those of us who enjoy seeing it from the windows of our RVs are sure to love it! Evada did a magnificient job of selecting the right material, recipes, graphics and photos to include in this centennial book! The fonts and general layout of the book are "user friendly", easy to read and definitely fun to look at. The quips and tips, the maintenance ideas as well as the history of RV'ing is an added plus to the book! FIVE STARS to Evada and the publishers!

I dont see how mixing processed packaged food with Dotitos Fun Rv food. Or condensed soup with Doritos and Bacon all that amazing or fresh and healty on a regular family diet. They did look fun, easy, and adventerious to make. I would assume adventurios to even eat. I would rather hike in a long cave to feel adventurious when I am traveling in my RV.
I admitt I did not make any of what the cookbook had as recipies. I sent it back as it was not what I thought it would be. I knew my kids would not like most of these interesting combinations so I cant say how they taste. I was looking for a RV camping cookbook for more in the way of grilling slow fun hearty meals, take it easy camping cooking type ideas since we are in no rush on vacation. It had a lot of deserts and side dishes that may be fun to eat for some, but to me not much in the way of wholesome family dinners.
Maybe I am different? Maybe a lot of people like this high fat, sugar and processed food add in ideas on their vacation in an RV. Maybe I missed the turn on this book. The 5 star rating sold me till I started reading how ya make these things. Some looked tasty some were just weird combos of easy throw together packaged stuff ya buy and add to meat or veggies etc.
Book is full of fun RV facts which are enjoyable to read with lots of colors in the printed in China RV cookbook to make the RV cooking experience even more wonderious.
Happy Trails

This is a great little cookbook with recipes that sound delicious. Most of them are recipes that do not require a lot of fancy ingredients that I have never heard of. They have ingredients that most people would have on hand in their kitchens. They are also easy to make, so would be great for camping. Gonna keep a copy in my 5th wheel cause there are a bunch of recipes I want to try out.
